Who Wins When Social and Emotional Learning Meets Real Life?

We believe social-emotional learning is critical. But not just for a discussion in a classroom so a teacher can check a box. We want to see students learn these skills so they can change the world, starting with themselves. We want to see teens changed from the inside out so they can turn their world upside down. In this episode, Tim Elmore and Andrew McPeak discuss some practical ways educational leaders have brought social and emotional learning to real-life application.

Why I Have Given My Life to Develop Student Leaders

Why I Have Given My Life to Develop Student Leaders

It’s in times like these when we are reminded of why we do what we do. We focus on developing young people. Specifically, equipping students to think and act like life-giving leaders, regardless of the position they may or may not have. Over the past year alone, we saw students step up and answer the call to lead during a global pandemic. One example is college nursing majors were stepping in before they earned their degree to serve in hospitals because help was needed. In this episode, Tim Elmore and Andrew McPeak discuss six patterns to look for when young influencers step up.

How to Live Your Best Life as an Educator with Will Parker

Research shows that teachers and principals are leaving the profession of education at alarming rates. Some of the causes stem from the rising expectations and demands that educators find difficult to manage. Unfortunately, for many educators, taking care of others often means neglecting their own health and well-being. So, how can educators continue doing work they love while also making sure they are protecting themselves in the process?
In this episode, Tim Elmore and Andrew McPeak interview Will Parker as he shares about the habits, practices, and mindset necessary for growth as both an educator and a person. Will serves as Founder of Principal Matters LLC and Executive Director of Oklahoma’s Association of Secondary and Middle-Level Principals. He is also an author and speaker who uses his expertise in school leadership, culture and communication to equip education leaders with solutions and strategies for motivating students, inspiring teachers, and reaching communities.

Great content!

I have enjoyed listening to and learning from this content. I am a high school teacher and a homeschooling parent and am able to apply many of the ideas presented. My only request is to work on the sound— it’s so quiet compared to other podcasts I listen to! It will come up in a playlist and I’ll have to jack up the volume after a previous podcaster, then I have to remember to crank it down before the next podcast so I don’t get my ears blasted out—

As a middle school teacher I have found so much of this to be extremely helpful for me as I seek to grow my students into the next generation of incredible leaders!
