Hey Ya’ll! Welcome to the podcast Life Coach BFF Show! Do you want to confidently parent your teen while remaining sane and still finding joy in your every day? Do concerns of their safety, mental health, influences of social media and the ACT as well as the “act” frighten and keep you awake at night?
After a move finding myself lonely, isolated, and drowning in the realities of parenting teenagers, I felt completely lost and depleted. After a year of sitting in loneliness, I knew it had to stop. I transformed my mindset to something I call “living on green.” I’m going to teach it to you.
In this podcast, we’re giving all things to God, find beauty in the brokenness, triumphs through the trials of parenting teens, all the while finding joy and establishing balance. I’m your new BFF Heather, and you’re not lonely anymore. We’re in this together. Unplug the flat iron, pick up those dirty gym socks, put your lipgloss on, and let’s do this!
Heather Pettey is passionate about encouraging women to find joy and remain sane while parenting teens. The laughter and support happens weekly on her podcast, Life Coach BFF Show. When not podcasting or curating for CLUB BFF Mastermind (a membership for Christian moms of teens), she’s coaching moms to live confidently, set clear boundaries, and learn to build their fire in the rain. Heather is also the author of Keep It Simple, Sarah: Powerful Words and Encouragement for Christian Teen Girls.
Heather has made appearances on CNN Headline News and other media. She believes life is a long line of lessons, and in her opinion, it’s all about faith and good ol’ common sense. She happily resides with her family in Memphis, TN.

170 | Balancing Productivity & Self-Care: Knowing When to Do the Minimum vs. the Maximum
In episode 170 of Life Coach BFF Show, host Heather Pettey dives into the importance of understanding when to do the minimum versus the maximum, especially for midlife women navigating the challenges of raising teens or empty nesting.
She explains that sometimes, the best thing we can do is embrace the minimum - taking a break, saying no, and prioritizing self-care. Other times, going the extra mile and doing the maximum can lead to incredible rewards, whether in our careers or personal passions.
The key is to avoid feeling guilty about not always being maximally productive, and instead, give ourselves permission to ebb and flow between the minimum and the maximum as needed. Heather encourages listeners to tune into their own unique needs and rhythms, and practice self-compassion along the way.
Key Takeaways:- There is power in knowing when to do the minimum vs. the maximum- Embracing the minimum can be crucial for self-care, rest, and restoration- Doing the maximum can pay off when you have the energy and motivation- Finding the right balance is about tuning into your unique needs and rhythms
Actionable Tips:1. Recognize the importance of rest and relaxation, and schedule intentional breaks.2. Reframe your mindset around productivity - define it in a way that works for you.3. Identify the root cause of your guilt, whether it's internal or external pressure.
