Does Meditation Really Help Mental Health?

Does Meditation Really Help Mental Health?

I've never really liked the idea of just plain meditation, in part because I never really understood why I should meditate on nothing, and in another part because whenever I meditated on nothing, I ended up either thinking of more items for my to do list, or I ended up just complaining to God.

That changed earlier this year, though, when I learned an incredibly simplified method of meditation that is not new age-y or overly distractive.

So in this episode I share with you a simple way to find more calm in just 5-10 minutes each day.

But I also want to share with you some of my own tricks for deeper prayer, because studies show that both meditation and prayer provide benefits to your brain.

Five Stars!

It has been an enjoyable and enlightening podcast so far. Greg shows off his skills as an interviewer to lead his guests through discussions about a variety of mental health topics. He truly explores multiple facets. It’s not just a discussion about the mind, but body, spirit, and relationships too.

Timely topic

Mental health is a topic that is still too often only whispered. In our society where people can be disconnected from each other even though we can be so connected electronically, it is vital to understand mental health challenges. I am glad Greg has been willing to bring this topic out of the shadows.

Thank you for pulling back the curtain

I've been listening to Greg and Jennifer for over 10 years with their Adventures in Imperfect Living (formerly known as Catholics Next Door) podcast. Check out that podcast if you want to hear what Greg's gone through over the last two years or so; it's pretty incredible how far he's come. He speaks honestly and openly about his personal struggles with mental illness. So brave, and so eyeopening for those of us who know someone struggling with mental illness. I think this is a timely podcast as people in today's world seem more open to understanding mental illness.. Thank you for pulling back the curtain on a difficult subject. I look forward to more episodes.
