In this episode Dr. Joe Santangelo, who is a pediatrician by training but is currently in the role of Chief Quality and Safety Officer at Munson Healthcare, talks with Dr. Stason Vandegrift a pediatrician in Grayling about how social media is affecting the pediatric population. In this episode they discuss the relationship between social media and pediatric mental health, and the role of the provider in promoting safe and effective us of social media for the pediatric population. Dr. Vandegrift references a Family Media Use Plan in the episode and we wanted to provide a link for easy access!

In this episode host Dr. Christine Nefcy, Chief Medical Officer, Munson Healthcare dives deep into the conversation of the ethics around code status with Dr. Roman Barraza, MD, PhD; Medical Director, Hospice and Palliative Care, Munson Palliative Care Services . They discuss the definition of code status and all that it encompasses, how to have a conversation with patients about their choice of code status, and when it is the appropriate time to have these conversations. They close out the discussion with what advanced care planning resources are on the horizon to be accessible at Munson Healthcare.

The red flags providers should be looking for and how to start the conversation when you are suspicious of opioid misuse. They also talk about upcoming changes with the buprenorphine waiver and what Munson Healthcare is working on to support both patients and providers when it comes to opioids.
