Episode 6: Russell Brand Hates Porn

Episode 6: Russell Brand Hates Porn

So, we had some conflicts the night we were supposed to record, so we played hooky, knowing we had a 20 minute long segment we cut out of Episode 4 ready to roll if we needed to take a week off.  So, we're pulling the rip cord kind of early, but here's Dr. Chauntelle, Houston Don and Jeff talking about Russell Brand's recent about-face on porn.

Whether or not Russell was compensated by "Fight The New Drug" is unknown at this time.

    Episode 5: The XRCO Awards

    Episode 5: The XRCO Awards

In this episode, we talk about the XRCO awards since Dr. Chauntelle, Roger Pipe and Houston Don / Don Houston are all voting members.  (Jeff is merely a sponsor, like a modern day Medici.)

Due to the holiday and other commitments, I haven't been able to write the full show notes out; but I thought it was more important to get the episode posted, especially since it clocks in around 90 minutes.

We also started a new segment - "What Floats Your Boat This Week?" - which is basically a rip-off of Pop Culture Happy Hour's "What's Making You Happy This Week?" - but it seems like an easy way to point you to some things you might not be aware of.  It can be found at the 1:24:00 mark.

If you are in the industry (talent, production staff, all the way to warehouse worker) you are invited to the XRCO Awards (for free!), being held April 11 at Lush in Hollywood.  RSVP to rog@pipelinemultimedia.com to make sure you're on the list.  If you're not in the industry, you'll have to be content with reading about the show on your favorite blogs.

Episode 4: Marriage 2.0 and Adult Storytelling, Porn as Sex Ed

Episode 4: Marriage 2.0 and Adult Storytelling, Porn as Sex Ed

Episode Four adds Don Houston / Houston Don of XCritic.com to the Vanzetti  / Chauntelle mix.

We really only covered two topics this time, tho we went off on many tangents.

    Ruminations on Marriage 2.0 (1:00)
Why aren't all movies hardcore? How does hardcore sex in a movie enhance or detract from storytelling? (15:11)
Anal Gaping is a little icky? (21:00)
Does porn influence the sexual habits of our youth? (22:00)
Has porn pulled back from it's harder edges and stunt acts (Adriana Chechik does triple anal in G******g Me vs. Bridgette Kerkove shoves a bunch of chopsticks up her ass)
Did the late-90s/early 2000s extreme porn wave stem from the fact that the veteran performers in the industry got bored with "vanilla" sex and, in an attempt to recapture the excitement of sex, go down sidestreets and alleyways and popularize more extreme acts in the process?  (30:00)
Cum omelette?!? Ami Emerson in American Gokkun 8 via Susannah Breslin's They Shoot Porn Stars, Don't They? (33:00)
NewNowNext: Straight Porn Star James Deen On Getting Rimmed: “I Don’t See How It’s Gay” (38:00)
Rimming: Here to Stay? Who's the next big name in Pegging? (41:30)

Episode 3: Home Street Home, Kendra, Fleshlights and Paying For Your Porn

Episode 3: Home Street Home, Kendra, Fleshlights and Paying For Your Porn

Dr. Chauntelle and Jeff are alone this episode as Roger is off in San Francisco publicizing Home Street Home.

A bit of background on Home Street Home (closes March 7!); Dr. Chauntelle's Uproxxx article on it (the commenter says its psychobilly, not punk  (1:15)
    We're on iTunes!
Kendra Sutherland get some molds of her naughty bits made at Pipedream Products (4:27)
    Dr. Chauntelle visits Fleshlight (6:55)
Our last two episodes have had download in the TRIPLE DIGITS!
I had a nice email conversation with Eli Cross about the selection process for his movie X Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of All Time (13:16)
PornHub sponsors the NY Porn Film Festival - I should clarify that while they sponsored it, they did not curate it. (19:12)

NYU Local (and others) have pointed out the weird relationship between the indie porn ethic celebrated by the festival, and having the festival sponsored by a company whose main source of income is distributing pirated content and profiting off the traffic.

Beating the #Pay4YourPorn drum and lamenting tube sites and combating the perception that adult performers are all rolling in cash and are not hurt by piracy.

An aside, as I think it helps illustrate the issue - Nate Glass of Takedown Piracy assists minor league wrestling organizations along with porn studios in their fight against tube sites and illicit distribution of their material.  He shared a Facebook post from The Tommy Dreamer, a producer of wrestling PPV events which sums things up really well.

People don't understand Tube Sites business models (29:38)
Sasha Grey might have done more harm than good by exaggerating the industry via her stint on Entourage (36:36)
    VOD Business Models

All You Can Eat: VideoBox, Adult DVD Empire Unlimited, SugarVOD
    Pay-Per-Minute: HotMovies, AdultRental

Pink Visual comes to the understanding that treating customers well results in repeat business (44:19)

Episode Two: Emma Marx, Showtime’s Best Porn and Veronica Vain

Episode Two: Emma Marx, Showtime’s Best Porn and Veronica Vain

The best laid plans of mice and men....

Our goal for the show, right now anyway, is to release a new episode every other Friday.  We didn't quite get it together last week, so we did get Jeff, Rog and Dr. Chauntelle together on Skype this week to talk about a few things.  (Hopefully, the next installment will include our fourth host, Don Houston!)

Until then, here are the topics we covered:

XRCO Nominations come out next week, and the awards show is unlike most of the other award shows; not the least of which is because it is industry only.  (0:00)
The Submission of Emma Marx 2: Boundaries came out this week in the shadow of Fifty Shades of Grey, and we talk about the movie and BDSM. We love Jacky St. James story and direction (montage!), Eddie Powell's score and the performances from Penny Pax and Richie Calhoun (2:20)

We mention The sex.com review of the The Submission of Emma Marx 2: Boundaries
Where Jeff learned about Safe Words

Showtime is running Eli Cross/Bryn Pryor and Paul Fishbein's documentary X Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of All Time; we talked about it and the giant gap from 1984-1992 that they skipped over.

    No New Wave Hookers?
    No Night Trips?
    No Dog Walker?
    No Chameleon? (19:50)
    Praise for Jon Dough

    Porn March Madness? (30:20)
What is the purpose of male porn performers? (34:45)
Finally, we wrap it up with a discussion about Veronica Vain and the apparent cynicism in the narrative surrounding her entree into the adult industry and how the mainstream media portrays the industry . (35:40)

Veronica gets called a "porn star" by BroBible before actually doing any porn
    Veronica's interview with Complex
    We Love Sovereign Syre
    The Oregon State Library Girl
Why is Veronica or Belle Knox celebrated where the Oregon State girl is shamed?
