Parenting Series: Loving The Skin You Live In with Author Michael Tyler Health: It's Personal
-
- Health & Fitness
Author and father, Michael Tyler shares how a challenging conversation with his young son led him to pen a children’s book explaining that which is beautiful and unique - the color of our skin. Michael explains how race is not attached to biology but makes such an impact on how we see ourselves and how we are viewed by others. He insists that we move from tolerance to acceptance which requires recognition, acknowledgment and affirmation, a lesson that’s been consistent, if not adapted, as his sons have gotten older. His story of love and persistence led to the publication of this important message published by the Chicago Children’s Museum and many inspiring professional partnerships, including the Clinton Foundation.
McKenna, Karen and Sean continue to take an inventory on their own habits and responsibilities.
