When life gives you lemons, what do you do with them? Over here at The Squeeze—we talk about it—"it" being our mental health and well being. Host Taylor Lautner's (no, not that guy, but she is married to that guy) introduction to mental health was at a young age, witnessing friends and family suffer in ways she couldn't fully understand. She started a nursing career in the peak of the pandemic and has been struggling with her own mental health ever since. Tay is joined co-host, husband Taylor Lautner, in addition to celebrity and expert guests to further the conversation surrounding mental wellness. At the end of the day, we're all pretty similar; even those living in the lime-est of lights can be weighed down by sour lemons. In addition to sharing coping strategies and stories, we hope that above all, this podcast offers the comfort of knowing you are not alone.

Dr Amen: Raising Mentally Strong Kids

Dr Amen: Raising Mentally Strong Kids

For the first time ever, The Lautners welcome back a past guest, Dr. Amen, for another conversation on mental wellness, this time for children. Whether you’re a parent, want to be a parent, or have no desire to be a parent, Dr. Amen offers insight into relationships and development that we’re certain you can apply to your life in some way. Dr. Amen explains why he wanted to write a book with Dr. Charles Fay and tackle what is missing from most parenting books—brain health! He explains the importance of special time, active listening, and letting children make affordable mistakes. There is undeniably a youth mental health crisis, and Dr. Amen hopes that by offering a “parenting manual” that encourages firm, kind parenting, children will have a better chance at mental strength from the very start.
Be sure to follow Dr. Amen @doc_amen and pre-order his new book, Raising Mentally Strong Kids: How to Combine the Power of Neuroscience with Love and Logic to Grow Confident, Kind, Responsible, and Resilient Children and Young Adults

Alex Warren: Songs About Dead People

    TW: substance, emotional, physical abuse
Social media sensation and powerhouse singer-songwriter Alex Warren joins the Lautners to discuss his challenging childhood that made him who he is today as a friend, partner, and artist. Alex lost his father to cancer at the age of 9, and his mother a few years ago to addiction. He suffered emotional and physical abuse at the hands of his mother, before being kicked out at the age of 18. He was homeless and started posting content on the internet, then watched as his life quickly took a turn. Despite millions of followers tracking his every move, he’s opening up now like never before in his music. In addition to sharing his childhood with us, he opens up about current family dynamics with his siblings, his outlook on death, and the most cathartic song he’s ever written. Dr. Judy Ho: The New Rules of Attachment

On today’s episode, the two Tays sit down with Dr. Judy Ho to get into all things attachment styles. Dr. Judy is a Board Certified Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, an author, and a TV and podcast host, so you could say she knows a thing or two when it comes to today’s topic. Starting at the beginning for those new to attachment, Dr. Judy explains the four attachment styles: secure attachment, anxious attachment, avoidant attachment, and disorganized attachment. The three then dive into what factors contribute to someone’s style, misconceptions people often have regarding attachment styles, and how someone’s attachment style can affect their mental and physical health. Plus, Dr. Judy provides tips for those who seek to alter their attachment style as well as advice for parents or role models of children to help develop a secure attachment.

For more information on Dr. Judy’s work, attachment styles and where to preorder her new book, The New Rules of Attachment, visit her website https://drjudyho.com/! You can follow her on social media @drjudyho.

Wow. Just wow.

I’ve been listening for a few months after finding this podcast. Can’t even remember what got me to it, but I’m so thankful I found it. Taylor and Taylor are two of my favorite people after listing to these wonderful and amazing interviews. People open up and just pour out their hearts. T&T provide a safe space for all and to walls come down. I decided to review because it has meant so much to me as I struggle with my own health. Mental health is absolutely the most important thing to focus on. Thank you so much Taylor and Taylor. You are making a huge difference in this world doing what you do. I love your podcast and I hope you continue for a very long time.
