    Communication with Dave and Lisa Nehring (part 2)

    Communication with Dave and Lisa Nehring (part 2)

    Middle schoolers argue, it is part of what they are. But it is a teaching opportunity:

    * To teach them in this, reframe the situation for them;

    * Affirm their identity -state the obvious if you need to:

    * Encourage them;

    But always remember to pick your battles.

    We are in a time of social upheaval, so identity is critically important.

    Narrative requires hearing, listening, responding, for it to be a narrative.

    Teach children how they and their thoughts/feelings tie into a greater fabric of communication/family/identity

    Honor conveys something of value that is passed from group to individual, and individual to group.

    Communication= Me, thee, we. When you arrive at we, then you have communicated.

    Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. Hebrews 13:7

    What is a Leader? "

    A leader is someone of influence." - John Maxwell

    How do we teach leadership?

    By example. The life we live. Be an example to rest and reflect. Seek the kingdom of God first.

    There are 5 levels of leadership and/or Discipleship (Good leadership is to become a servant leader) according to John Maxwell

    Level 1: Position. This is the lowest level of leadership—the entry level. ...

    Level 2 – Permission. Making the shift from Position to Permission brings a person's first real step into leadership. ...

    Level 3: Production. ...

    Level 4: People Development. ...

    Level 5: The Pinnacle.
