Identify Your Niche with these 7 Questions

When we start our clinical practices, many of us don’t yet know what we love to do. We haven’t yet found the things that light us up and that will help us build thriving practices and long, satisfying careers. For example, we don’t know that we love to work with patients with digestive disorders or metabolic conditions, or that we love to treat people working through thyroid issues or menopause.
As clinicians, we can treat all of these things, and it might be our first impulse to do so. However, practices that treat everything often find that the phones aren’t ringing, the appointment book isn’t full, and qualified traffic just isn’t growing. Why is this? It’s simple: when patients have extremely specific problems, they want to see someone who is uniquely focused in that problem area - not a general practitioner. To make this comparison clear, think about this: you can buy everything at Walmart, but do you ever get the best version of anything at Walmart?
If you want your practice to stand out and succeed in a crowded field, today’s episode is for you. We’re going to help you find your superpower, build a practice focused on the patients you love (and not the ones that make you say “Them again?”), and become a true authority in your field.
    Gold Nuggets
Why being a one-stop-shop for your patients limits your growth potential and your ability to provide exemplary service. The reason no one is actually a jack of all trades - and why listing 15, 20, or 50 conditions that you treat on your website scares off more patients than it attracts. Seven questions to ask yourself to help you discover your niche and become a true specialist in a profitable field you love.  Get Today's Show Notes

Are You a Healthcare Practitioner who Struggles with Self-Care? You're Not Alone!

Are You a Healthcare Practitioner who Struggles with Self-Care? You're Not Alone!

As medical practitioners, we all give lots of advice. We all say we know how to fix things, and people come to us for answers to their toughest questions. However, with our busy schedules, it’s easy for us to fail to practice what we truly believe in - and we often don’t take care of ourselves like we should.
It’s so easy for us to give to others that we end up neglecting our own mental and physical well-being and fall into routines that don’t serve us, and this can make it harder for us to deliver the best possible patient outcomes. We need to set a good example by taking care of ourselves.
Today’s episode is all about getting “unstuck” when it comes to taking care of our own health, why you don’t need to go to the Cleveland Clinic to get a clear picture of how your mind and body are doing, and how to set a work/life balance that will set you up for success both in the office and at home.
    Gold Nuggets
Why we can’t be objective with our own health. Why it’s so important to be honest and held accountable when it comes to the struggles and challenges you face with diet, exercise, and illness. How to stop staring at emails and Facebook for hours each day and make the most productive use of your screen time. What you can do to create morning and evening routines that allow for real self-care.  Get Today's Show Notes

How a Crisis Helped Me Find My Superpower

How a Crisis Helped Me Find My Superpower

We all have stories running around in our heads stopping us from taking the plunge and starting the businesses of our dreams. We may believe that we don’t know enough about accounting, or how to hire people, or how we’ll get enough great patients to have the success and live the life we’ve always wanted.
Before I became a clinician, I worked in small business accounting. However, when my daughter was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer, I discovered my superpower. This experience would lead me back to school, and ultimately to opening my clinic in 2004. In the years to come, I’d build a successful practice, but I made a number of mistakes along the way.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing the story of how I launched my business, the challenges I faced, and the common concerns I hear from aspiring clinicians. If you’re looking to start a business of your own, I hope my journey can provide you with wisdom and guidance to help you achieve success on your terms.

How my family’s journey around health and nutrition ultimately led me to launch my practice. Why you should not pursue any business opportunity that you’re not absolutely passionate about - and how trying to enter the world of aesthetics put me in nearly $500,000 of debt. How clinicians can grow a thriving, scalable practice while staying in their lane. Get Today's Show Notes

How to Powerfully Define Your Brand with Michael Liebowitz

How to Powerfully Define Your Brand with Michael Liebowitz

As healthcare practitioners, we have our fields, practices, and our patients. At some point in our careers, we’ve also all explained what we do to someone in a way that we thought was clear and easy to understand, then learned that our explanation was anything but.
There’s a lot that can get messed up in translating what we say we do and how the public perceives what we do, and this is where my friend Michael Liebowitz’s genius comes in. Michael is the founder of Magnetic Mind Studio, where he uses his background in behavioral neurology and his deep knowledge of neuro linguistic programming (NLP) to help his clients discover truly unique, resonant brand identities.
Michael completely changed the way I looked at business and the message I convey to the world, and if you’re looking to rebrand or create a fresher look for your brand, his services are game-changing.
Today, he joins the podcast to talk about the unique intersection between marketing and behavioral neurology, how to map pathways to understand how your audience perceives you, and how to create a living, breathing brand with five senses that speaks to the part of the human brain that really makes decisions.
P.S. Michael is willing to hop on the phone with you at no charge to help you get a sense of what your brand really looks like. He digs deep, asks incredible questions, and guarantees that you’ll come away with a new insight about your business - even if you don’t decide to work together! Simply visit his website to schedule a conversation.

What happens when people encounter brands - and why human beings make survival decisions instead of rational ones every single time. The basic neurology of the survival brain - and what it really means when someone says that all sales are emotional. Why features and benefits rarely help you make a sale - and how to reach your target audience’s “critter brain” to silence maybes, engender loyalty, and bring in a steady stream of great referrals. Why any two medical providers in the same field aren’t in direct competition when they’ve mastered their messaging.
