This is the Win | Discipline Is Destiny: The Four Virtues

This is the Win | Discipline Is Destiny: The Four Virtues

Before he was a big time comedian, Hasan Minhaj was asked if he thought he was going to make it big. “I don’t like that question,” he said. “I fundamentally don’t like that question.” Because the question implies that doing comedy is a means to an end—the Netflix special, selling out the stadium, doing this, getting that.

“No, no, no,” he said, “I get to do comedy…I won. It being predicated on doing X or being bigger than Y—no, no, no. To me, it’s always just been about the work. I’m on house money, full time.”

Discipline Now…Freedom Later | Pain Is Self-Inflicted Harm

At a critical moment in The Odyssey, Odysseus tied himself to the mast of his ship because he knew he wouldn’t be able to resist steering the ship toward the beautiful sound of the Sirens. In temporarily giving up his freedom, Odysseus became the first person ever to hear the Sirens without fatally crashing into the rocks surrounding the island where they lived.

Genuine

Who is Ryan Holiday? I’ve never met him personally but he has become my good and reliable friend. He meets me every morning at around 5 AM. Sometimes he gives me a lighthearted topic to consider but most days he’s brutally honest and challenges me to be a better person. I strive to be the best version of ‘me’ daily. It’s not an easy task but I know I have an ally in Ryan. If I’m successful with the goals I set out to accomplish I owe Ryan some appreciation. Either way, I feel I’m a better person because of this podcast. Thanks for what you do and share. Hope for many happy and healthy years to come for you and your family. Many mahalos.

I like the ads

I took a break on this podcast and returning, seems the only option now is to pay for an ad free version. I understand the move to monetization, but I enjoy the offerings Ryan shares and have purchased a few. Perhaps consider keeping the ad supported episodes as well.
