    Poem: Copy cat.

If you haven't sat here and daydreamed,

If you didn't swim in this pool and marvel at the fish,

If you hadn't forgot your pen and let sweat stain your journal,

You will never wear the same clothes.

The fabric won't recognise your skin.

The laundry won't know how to wash.

The clouds will stop working, confused by the sun.

I watch the autumn leaves dance,

reds and oranges fill my mind like orange juice in portugal,

    but you don't know that,

    white walls and office ceilings,

    make a funny moodboard.

tell me my friends coffee order,

you forgot the honey, and got the size wrong.

    honey on the table,

    honey on my mind

    honey in the fabric

    tapestry.

    I've hidden notes

    on rocks,

    on trees

    on beaches

    on humans

and you tried to copy me,

    because you found one.

    Poem: Doubts

    Voices bounced off the waves

hit the sky, came through the phone line

    Where are they coming from?

I'll build my own sky and paint it too.

    The ocean is wide enough

my boat is small, and your sails angle differently

    leave me to my path,

let me choose how fast I want the clock to move

I'll work till dark with my ideas

    your doubts deserve a chest,

locked away and sunk to the bottom of the ocean.

    the dial of my creativity

    the switch of my decisions

    the tap of my experiences

    moves with my fingers.

I will remember what you say,

and i will move to the quieter parts of the ocean,

    where the sun is uninterrupted

and your doubts don't interfere with path.

    Winning.

    You're scared of winning,

because a part of you dies.

It gets left behind with the memories,

gathers dust with old routines, and easy habits.

You're not scared of holding a trophy,

and you know it's easy to cross the line.

    You're scared of the new,

you're scared of who you might become.

    Becoming someone you haven't met,

    and forever leaving the old.

    There is no going back,

    there is no turning around.

    They'll talk differently to you,

and you will reply with words you haven't used before.

    Winning is a foreign tongue.

You're scared they won't talk to you.

    You're scared they'll judge you.

It's not winning you're scared of.

    It's you.

    "Gerberas"

    I hung my flowers upside

They couldn’t stand tall on their own

Heavy headed the hung their heads,

    Falling over, they needed braces.

What they needed was an embrace

Wire necked, hold tall, make your call.

Too many thoughts in their petals

Didn’t know what to do with them.

We don’t know what to do with the heavy headed

The ones with too many thoughts, too many petals

Too much life in their veins, too much water in their bud.

Unfair, they didn’t pick this design.

Pick the flowers that stand tall,

They won’t tell you what’s important

Wire up the stem, everyone needs guidance

Some flowers choose to ask for it

Instead I hung them upside down

I thought they looked pretty the wrong way round

Maybe that’s what they’re meant to do

Yet I bought them in cardboard

    That’s not their home,

Tell me what flowers you want on the throne

I want ones which stand tall

    even when they’re upside down.

    "Next doesn't need a question"

You worried so much about what your next run was

you forgot what you were doing now.

    And I hate that.

    I want you here,

    not there.

    Next steals everything that's here

and refunds you something you're not happy with.

    Something I'm not happy with.

    You're next race.

    Race it upon arrival

    not before

    You're next move.

    Move it in the moment.

Next does not need a question

    because it doesn't exist,

    till it's gone.

    Josh's Poem:

Ocean rumbles into the night, I fall asleep.

My skin turns, white to brown, Portuguese sun whispers.

Old man, eighty one, holds a five mile stare.

I miss you, eight letters, an envelope rips open.

A surfer falls into the wave, no-one hears the scream.

Wine glasses clink at sunset, it wakes the moon from slumber.

Quitting slices the dream, a coin drops into the well.

Messages of support, kindness knows who to tell.

Old times in present days, time is listening now.

    Thursday can't come quick enough,

he wishes he was with her.

Cards spin as the hit the table, give me the ace.

A world away, everyone wants their space.

In the shadows, the kids play, the kids play.

The first hour, saw you in the garden.

The late hours, saw you smiling and giggling.

We must be the child, the one in the shade.

The louder the world gets, the sharper we feel the blade.

Be quiet with me, underneath the stars

I want to sit with you,

    and feel,

    the quietest shade of loud.

    Poem:

    Poem one read by Josh

    "8:49pm" The Night Before:

    I feel numb

Because I know I’m about to feel so much.

    My body knows.

My brain wants all the answers but my body will do the work.

I’ve had tears behind my eyes,

Waiting to fall but holding on.

    I know they’ll come out.

    Somehow I’m protected.

    The way everyone talks,

They know something big is about go down.

    Something bigger than me.

    I’m in prayers.

    I’m in thoughts.

    These are not small.

    Well wishes are wonderful,

    But these wishes have weight.

I hope to do them proud.

I hope to do me proud.

This is a war of heart.

    Play smart,

    Play to life,

    Because this is life.

    Quote from Mudith:

    "Run slow to finish fast."
