17. Integrity In The Pivot - From 'Wellness World' Nutritionist To Pro-Metabolic Nutritionist an Interview with Lydia Irving
This was such a fun conversation with Nutritionist Lydia Irving - we spoke all about her journey with food, to becoming a degree level Nutritionist that realised she hadn't really been taught how to heal people with food but had mostly just been taught what supplements to prescribe (hello alternative world pharma).
The thing I absolutely loved when I cam across Lydia was how open she was with 'what she used to think' and was so willing (despite it being challenging) to say 'actually I don't believe that anymore' and do a complete pivot in her nutrition practise which is seeing her finally getting real, lasting results with her clients.
This is an episode not to be missed if you have ever been under the spell of (or still possibly are!) wellness ideology when it comes to food. I know I certainly was for a really long time and it feels so good and so refreshing to chat to someone in this field who get's it, and is creating change in the lives of all her clients with an eat more, train less approach.
you can find Lydia here: https://www.internal-instinct.com/ and HERE ON INSTAGRAM
I trust you will enjoy this conversation as much as I did having it!
Much Love,
Carlee

16. BIRTH PAST 42 WEEKS SERIES: Interview With Gabby Fleming
This was SUCH a juicy conversation, get two women who love talking about birth together and the convo goes a lot longer than we originally intended but was so full of golden nuggets for any women who are currently in the birth portal and are coming up against any fear associated with birthing past 42 weeks.
In this episode we discuss:
Gabby’s two 42+ week births and the vast difference between the two.
What it looks like to trust your body and baby vs bending to the fears of those around you
The pressure she was receiving with her first baby vs not allowing others energy into the birth portal with her second baby
The BS idea of “They’re letting you go that far” (hint: it’s your body and your baby - no-one is ‘letting’ you do anything
Midwives with hospital rights and what that means for you as the birthing mother
Physiological birth vs medical interference and the outcomes that produces
Being ‘on the clock’ in the hospital
The difference between TRUE labour and inducted labour
Why inducing your baby is completely unnecessary (unless there is a TRUE medical emergency)
The fear mongering language and misinformation that gets used in the medical birth space to coerce a certain outcome (aka c-section)
Why knowing the facts around certain outcomes helps you to advocate for yourself if you walk the path of any medical birth workers in your birth space
How important it is to only have people in the birth space that truly TRUST you
Not sharing due dates (that are extremely inaccurate anyway)
The two extremes that Gabby experienced in each of her births
Anchoring into a ‘birth song/baby lullaby’ the science behind it and my journey with my baby’s song for my 4th baby
How a song can help you to really connect you to your baby
What is ‘normal’ when it comes to babies entering the world (it’s certainly NOT having them born between 38-42 weeks)
Why no-one can will a baby out - they come when they’re ready
The differences between countries of what is ‘normal’ for the EDD
How the EDD was established over 300 years ago by a man who has never been pregnant
The stats around induction and c-sections
The business of birth
Birth trauma at the hands of someone you thought you could trust
Why I am creating this series
The bell curve of stillbirths - and how 37 weeks gestation has the same rate of stillbirths as 43 weeks… showing it really has nothing to do with gestation and is in fact other factors.
Reactions vs decisions
How to hold your power and block out any outside noise
And SO much more
If you want to speak to Gabby in regards to her birth advocacy work - YOU CAN REACH HER HERE

15. The Art Of Nourishment - aka Pro-Metabolic Eating
In the last episode I shared my journey with post natal depletion and in it I mention my journey from plant based to pro metabolic eating.
In this episode I go deeper into this way of eating.
It's not a diet. It's a lifestyle.
And for women like me who completely destroyed their metabolisms with 'wellness ideology' practices such as fasting, juicing, cutting out every food under the sun and going plant based...
Well this is for you.
In this episode:
+ More of the specifics of pro-metabolic eating
+ Wellness Ideology & how it's destroying our metabolism
+ What nutrient dense food's we need to be eating
+ My controversial opinion about how women should/should not eat
+What the metabolism actually is
+ What does our bodies actually need to be supported and where are the most bio-available nutrients to get what we need
+ And so much more
Much Love,
Carlee -
14. STORIES AS MEDICINE: The Undernourished Woman
In this episode I am sharing my journey with Post Natal depletion along with my thoughts on the Undernourishment of women as a whole. My journey with eating a plant based diet to then seeing through the ideology of the wellness world and coming back to true nourishment.
We cover:
+ What I *was* eating and how I got there
+ What I was eating through my most recent pregnancy and post partum (and what I would do differently)
+ How I am nourishing my body now
+ Signs of undernourishment to look out for
+ Healthy skinny vs unhealthy skinny (I've been both)
+ And so much more...
If you are women (even if you're not in the post partum), and you are wondering if you might be undernourished ie. you're eating a "healthy" diet but still feel like sh*t most of the time... this episode is for you.
And if you know any other women in your life who need to hear this - please share it with them :)
Much Love,
Carlee
