This content is long overdue to support teachers so kudos Malia. As an educator & parent of a child with hearing loss I LOVED this episode. The content is spot on and can really elevate your game to reach more students’ academic goals. We are seeing more students with hearing loss in the regular classroom. They can find more success academically with a few extra modifications from their teacher. Bonus points as the modifications will aid all students. AND it really isn’t that difficult. You need some basic awareness and remember your student will be fairly well versed in what works in the classroom if they have utilized classroom accommodations prior to 2nd grade.
Not just for educators, a must listen for parents too!

I am the parent of 2 early elementary aged students. Outside of homeschooling my oldest for kindergarten (and inevitably and simultaneously pre-k for my youngest 😵💫), I am FAR from being an educator of any kind. With a BA in graphic design and visual communication, I have always been passionate about making personalized resources for my kids even if they just want a particular coloring page. Since finding Malia, I have not only been able to add real educational value to my home worksheets and play, I am even able to provide my children’s teachers and classrooms with valuable resources as well! It takes a village, and being an informed and involved parent can and should always involve supporting school learning at home, and understanding the teaching side of things can be a game changer. Plus Malia is so positive and uplifting, it’s hard not to be in a great mood filled with motivation after listening to her podcasts!
Malia is the real deal!

I absolutely love this podcast. SoR has unfortunately overwhelmed a lot of teachers, but Malia makes it simple and actionable for teachers to make small changes in their classrooms with big rewards.

Another liberal leftist teacher who spouts off her political rhetoric and doesn’t think about the divide it causes listeners.

Wealth of practical knowledge that will transform your teaching

I was so excited when I found out that Malia was starting a science of reading podcast. I read her book last summer and loved it! I learned so much and was able to share that knowledge with other teachers. I listen to a lot of reading podcasts and this one has quickly jumped to the top of my list. She presents practical and useful information on teaching students how to read using researched strategies that teachers can use in their classrooms. The resources and information shared are phenomenal! Can’t wait to keep listening and learning!!
Yay!!

I was thrown into the classroom at a school that was desperate for a teacher midyear. Being out of field I knew I was in way over my head. I hoped having a permanent teacher would be more beneficial than no teacher, but I still knew it was a huge ripoff for my students. I had zero training and even more surprising once I became a permanent classroom teacher I had no guidance from my school or district. I’ve already learned more from this podcast than anything else and starting from the beginning is so helpful for me to build MY foundation so I can be better equipped to help my students!
So exciting!

I am so proud of Malia! She is a wealth of knowledge and her book is one I always recommend to educators beginning their journey towards aligning their instruction to research based practice. Now we have an even easier way to access all of her knowledge! I can’t wait to share this one with friends! Thank you Malia for sharing with us! You are a gift!
