    #21: I Saved $5K and a Vacation with Virtual Urgent Care

    Andy brings us another healthcare hack on today’s podcast: learning how to utilize virtual urgent care! When Andy’s daughter fell off a bed and hit her head hard, rather than rushing to the ER, they called a local urgent care and spoke with a daughter over the phone who helped them assess and care for their daughter’s injury over the phone, which saved them around $5000. He shares two other personal stories where he utilized virtual urgent care rather than in-person care and spending a lot more money than necessary. People don’t think of virtual urgent care being an option. By hearing this, I hope that folks start to consider using virtual care before in person care in the instance of a non-life threatening medical event. At the end of the podcast, Andy creates a medical event and contacts a virtual urgent care doctor in real time so we can get a glimpse of how simple utilizing these services are.

    This week we have Dr. Robert Malone. Dr. Malone is an American physician and biochemist who's early work focused on developing mRNA technology, pharmaceuticals, and drug repurposing research. He received his BS in biochemistry from the University of California, Davis in 1984, his MS in biology from the University of California, San Diego in 1988, and his MD from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 1991. He attended Harvard Medical School for a year-long postdoctoral studies program. Due to the heat of the political climate surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, in the last three years his work has shifted drastically from consulting to being an online presence to his community of devoted truth seekers in the world of medicine, science, analytics, bioethics, and politics. Dr. Malone's rise to recognition came when he became critical of the use of the Covid-19 mRNA vaccine as someone who one might believe wouldn't have anything negative to say about it's roll out. He was featured on Brett Weinstein's podcast and then on Joe Rogan to talk in depth about his stance on the pandemic in its entirety, which catapulted him to be a face of "misinformation" among the mainstream media outlets.
