Episode 188: Breaking Down The Menstrual Cycle with Kate Morton

Episode 188: Breaking Down The Menstrual Cycle with Kate Morton

    Dear listener,

Join me this month as I chat with special guest Kate Morton! Kate is a Registered Dietitian, the founder of Funk It Wellness, a SXSW speaker, and menstrual health advocate.

After studying to become an RD, Kate moved to New Zealand where she began working with wellness start-ups to develop nutritionally sound products in the “better for you” market. While in New Zealand, Kate started to presume a more holistic way of living that led her to dive deeper into the science of hormones and cyclical living. Kate’s mission is to empower all menstruators to have autonomy over their bodies and learn to make peace with food and their cycles.

In this conversation, we break down the four phases of the menstrual cycle (and what you need to know about each), discuss the negative impact that restrictive diets can have on hormonal health, and share general tips to help you navigate your nutritional needs throughout different phases of your cycle.

To learn more about Kate you can find her on Instagram (@carbsandkate and @funkitwellness), check out her Period Chats Podcast, sign up for her monthly hormone newsletter, or visit her Funk It Wellness website (https://funkitwellness.com/)! As a special thank you, Kate is offering listeners 20% off Funk It Wellness products by using my code "CLAIRE20" at checkout!

Speaking of the holidays, I also share my list of holiday eating "do's" and "don'ts" in the intro of this episode along with a few exciting things I have coming in the final days of 2023 and into 2024.

Absolutely Love This Podcast

I only found this podcast a couple months ago, and I have loved every episode that I have listened to so far. As a psychologist who works with eating disorders and personally loves the anti-diet, intuitive eating space, I find Claire’s knowledge so valuable. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone wanting to learn more about intuitive eating, trusting their body, and breaking up with diet culture.

So informative and encouraging!

This podcast offers so many practical strategies for navigating intuitive eating and rejecting diet culture. Claire is so down to earth and soothing in her approach and makes challenging topics feel accessible and possible for those new to IE. She adds a dose of humor to each episode to help balance some of the heavier content. So glad I found this show!
