    Supporting Yourself Through Stress

    Supporting Yourself Through Stress

Stress is our body's reaction to a challenge or demand. In short bursts, stress can be positive, such as when it helps us avoid danger or meet a deadline. But when stress lasts for a long time, it may harm our health.

We all experience stress on a regular basis. Often times our option to relieve that stress is exercise. However, stress-relief doesn't just come from exercise. The answer for managing our stress might be in our diet.

Our guest today is a good friend of mine, Claire Kutil.  Claire is also a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner who supports women with balancing their hormones, increasing their energy and discover true health with a bio-individually appropriate plan that meets them where they are and guide them on the journey to being restored and revitalized.

In this episode, Claire shares with us how diet is often overlooked as part of the stress-fighting picture but eating a healthy diet can reduce the negative effects of stress on our bodies. Tune in to learn more.

Taking A Break From Drinking with Rachel Coll

Taking A Break From Drinking with Rachel Coll

Hey Thrivers! You are in for another treat this week.

I am chatting with my friend, peer and colleague, Rachel Coll about her experience with sobriety. This is extremely valuable because as we start to approach the holidays and social engagements we must consider what we indulge in and why.

You are going to hear us discuss how we often use alcohol or even sweets to feel temporary relive from an uncomfortable emotion. During COVID, Rachel completed nine months of sorority and she found that dealing with uncomfortable situation while sober wasn’t any harder than when she drank. She notice that alcohol only postponed the discomfort but never got rid of it and whatever discomfort she felt she escape from in the moment that she made the decision to drink or over drink would just come back tenfold the next day in the form of a hangover.

Once alcohol was no longer a buffer she had to face her uncomfortable emotions and process them. What she found is that she had tolerated so much when she was putting alcohol  her body and without the alcohol she saw that she had options. She could choose to be uncomfortable or exit a situation that makes her uncomfortable. Drinking to tolerate anything doe snot have to be your only option, you can choose to leave a situation, a party, a job, a relationship that makes you uncomfortable. You get to choose.

This is another juicy conversation that you dont want to miss. Press play to join in now.

    Wheel of Wellness

    Wheel of Wellness

I have been seeing this trend in the health, wellness, and fitness industry for many years. That trend is a single focus on diet and exercise. Mental health is definitely an up-and-coming player but it's not fully embedded in the health and wellness space as yet. And it really deserves a seat at the table because how we think about things is how we experience and perceive the world around us. Our reality is our thoughts about our reality.

As you know I coach on mindset so I am a bit biased about its importance but honestly all of the parts that make up our well-being are important. When we look at the Wheel of Wellness which is comprised of four quadrants, your mindset, resources, physiology, safety, and security it’s obvious that they all impact one another. This goes to show that your health is more than just a diet or exercise routine, it’s about a holistic approach to well-being.

Listen in as we discuss the four quadrants of the Wheel of Wellness, their importance, how it shows up in your life and how you can evaluate your overall well-being from this Wheel of Wellness approach.

    Money Mindset with Natasha Tekeste

    Money Mindset with Natasha Tekeste

Money has been a taboo topic although it’s an essential component of our existence. Being able to sustain ourselves is integral for our self-care and self-worth. This is especially important for women.

It’s no secret that women are paid 23% less than men are paid globally. This external fight for financial equality is difficult and in addition to that, there can also be an internal struggle. The internal struggle can reflect our experience of self-worth, how we value ourselves, whether we experience ourselves as deserving of more or of less. These feelings contribute to the tone, intensity, and confidence in our voices. This is important because your money mindset is supported by your confidence and it is necessary to have a positive mindset and strong confidence as you engage in conversations around money.

Our guest today is Natasha Tekeste. She is a money mindset coach who coaches people socialized as women and women who want to earn more money at work. So they're employees, and they want to either apply for a promotion or ask for a raise. And then I coached women who are running their own businesses and want to make more money in their business. In both situations, you're asking for money, either through your offer or through an authority figure and so you want to be prepared to engage in these conversations.

Natasha believes that one of the reasons mindset work is so important is because when you’re able to shift how you think about yourself – you’re able to shift your entire contribution to the world. That’s why in this episode she will share with us three crucial steps to integrate your money mindset, self-worth, and voice to help you achieve your goals.

Feeling Valued at Work with Serena Johnson

What does it mean to feel valued at work? Well, when someone recognizes that our personal qualities or something we’ve done have helped the organization, we feel valued. Someone could recognize our work ethic or positive attitude, for example, or simply say thank you for a report we’ve completed that was particularly high-quality. Feeling valued at work leads to better physical and mental health, as well as higher levels of engagement, satisfaction, and motivation. All the things that lead to a healthy and productive relationship between employer and employee. Here is the thing, thriving off of external validation from managers and peers will keep your value tank full for so long. The real magic is learning to develop a personal practice of self-validation.

Perfect Reminders

Celeste’s insights are a perfect reminder that productivity is more than just crossing tasks off of a to-do list. Remembering that rest is a productive activity as well as having the insight to notice red flags in your routine and know that pulling back isn’t a weakness but, in fact, a strength, is something wonderful things to realize.
We can get so caught up in the busyness = productivity spiral, so having Celeste give us permission to take a step back and take note of how we’re actually feeling and relate to our emotions on such a deep and human level is a wonderful thing to experience.
I will continually recommend this podcast to any and everyone I meet. Whether you work in the corporate world or are an entrepreneur, this podcast will give you time to step back and contemplate what it is you really need.
I look forward to each and every episode!
