Redundant

Perhaps this is an unpopular opinion but I find that Oversharing really needs more diversity on listener stories. Don't get me wrong, I get that marriage/wedding content is rampant esp at the age of listeners but as a single female I wish they would have a broader variety. Friends, work, family relations... maybe its just me but I find its a lot of wedding and marriage talk lol.

Why is it a woman’s job to “get her man to be more responsible”?

I’m a big fan of the podcast, but I must say that I was pretty shocked by N&J’s response to the first voicemail question in most recent episode about “how to get your partner to become more responsible”. I think she completely minimized the burden of labour being shouldered by the caller. Having a forced utility outage as a result of the boyfriend’s neglect is a severe example of his incompetence (e.g., massive inconvenience it causes, follow up with utility provider required, credit score negatively affected). However by the way that Naomi and Jordana responded, you’d have though that the boyfriend had forgotten to pickup groceries one too many times.
Naomi’s final advice to the caller was to confront her boyfriend and ask him to “help her more”, but Naomi failed to see that her language still implies that it’s the girlfriend’s responsibility be the “director” (as Jordan mentioned) and the boyfriend is merely her assistant which shifts all of the responsibility back on to the girlfriend. Moreover, it puts the onus back on the caller to make yet another plea for basic respect. I think that that kind of language/advice perpetuates harmful notions that it’s a woman’s job take on the brunt of unpaid domestic and emotional labour despite the fact there are 2 grown adults in a relationship, not 1. YIKES!
