    -----------------------------------------------------
Fasting disconnects us from the world and has the power to break chains the world has us bound to.

How bad would your life have to be for you to fast and pray?

    Mark 9:14-29 NKJV

There is a different level of power that we tap into when we fast and pray.

There are situations in our lives and things that happen to us that open the door for the enemy to get in.

    Matthew 16:17-19 NIV

    Keys to the Kingdom

What are we opening and closing our souls to?

    Mark 3:20-30 NIV

Biblical Worldview vs Worldview - Filters, Anchors, redemption and the power of a covenant | Part 10

Welcome to Passionate Life Church! This week we are blessed to have Pastor Andrew sharing the importance of looking at the world with a biblical perspective. Join us this Sunday!
    -----------------------------------------------------
    What do filters do?

    How do we filter culture?
Do we filter culture through scripture or scripture through culture?

We are living in a post truth culture that anchors their beliefs into their own reality.

    God’s word is an anchor.

    Psalm 119:60-62 NLT

    Hebrews 6:18-19 NLT

What type of culture has infiltrated the church?

When you filter sin out of the Bible it removes our ability to experience God's transformational power.

    Ephesians 4:29-31 NLT

    2 Timothy 3:1-5 NIV

    What power are they denying?
    The power of redemption.

    Hebrews 9:11-12 NLT

The power of the new covenant.

    Hebrews 10:15-17 NLT

    John 17:13-19 NLT

The power of the new covenant is understanding God's word is the truth and every promise that was given to God's people and Jesus is now ours.

Biblical Worldview vs Worldview - The Bible is one unified story | Part 9

Biblical Worldview vs Worldview - The Bible is one unified story | Part 9

Welcome to Passionate Life Church! This week we are blessed to have Pastor Andrew sharing the importance of looking at the world with a biblical perspective. Join us this Sunday!
    -----------------------------------------------------
Reason 8 we can trust the Bible:

The Bible is one unified story.

The books were picked because the early church recognized that these books had an inherent authority for how Christians live and what they believe.

The Bible is a collection of 66 books and letters written by more than 40 authors over a period of about 1,500 years.

The Bible itself illustrates some of the materials used: engravings in clay, inscriptions on tablets of stone, ink and papyrus, vellum, parchment, leather, and metals.

The original languages of the Bible include Hebrew, common Greek, and Aramaic.

    1 Peter 1:10-12 NLT

    Reason number 9
The bible has survived and thrived through all attacks.

The Bible has been made illegal in 54 Countries.
Bestselling book every year by far and 6 billion copies in circulation.

    1 Peter 1:24-25 NLT

    Attack 1
(2 Kings 23:28-37). The prophet Jeremiah was commissioned by Jehovah to write a sacred scroll, which threatened divine destruction unless the king and his people repented of their wickedness.

    Attack 2
After the death of Alexander the Great, the Greek empire was divided into four segments (cf. Daniel 8:8), and the Jewish people fell under the control of a remarkably evil ruler whose name was Antiochus Epiphanes.

    Attack 3
Diocletian occupied the imperial throne from A.D. 284-305. In A.D. 303, he inaugurated a series of merciless persecutions upon those who professed the religion of Christ. Hurst notes:

    Reason 10
People were willing to die for it.

William Tyndale was a linguist who believed that everyone should be able to read the Bible in their own language. However, under a 1408 law, translating the Bible into English was illegal.

According to Wycliff Global Alliance the Bible has been translated into this many languages:
Full Bible: 736 languages represent 6 billion people.

New Testament: 1658 languages represent 824 million.
Portions: 1264 languages represent 449 million.
Total: 3658 with at least some scripture represents 7.23 billion people and 97% of the population.

    Matthew 24:13-14 NLT

Biblical Worldview vs Worldview - Prophetically Proven | Part 8

Biblical Worldview vs Worldview - Prophetically Proven | Part 8

Welcome to Passionate Life Church! This week we are blessed to have Pastor Andrew sharing the importance of looking at the world with a biblical perspective. Join us this Sunday!
    -----------------------------------------------------
    World vs Word part 8

Reason 7 we can trust the Bible.

    Prophetically proven
Approximately 2,500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2,000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter—no errors.
Since the prophecies are, for the most part independent of one another, the odds for all these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance without error is less than one in 102000 (that is 1 with 2,000 zeros written after it)!
324 fulfilled prophecies about Jesus and 150 of them came to pass in about 6 minutes on the cross.

    2 Peter 1:19-21 NLT

    Prophecies and the probability

    1. In approximately 700 BC, the prophet Micah named the tiny village of Bethlehem as the birthplace of Israel’s Messiah (Micah 5:2).

    Micah 5:2 NLT
    Probability of fulfillment = 1 in 10^5

    2. In the fifth century BC, a prophet named Zechariah declared that the Messiah would be betrayed for the price of a slave—thirty pieces of silver, according to Jewish law-and also that this money would be used to buy a burial ground for Jerusalem’s poor foreigners.

    Zechariah 11:12-13 NLT
    Matthew 27:6-10 NLT
    Probability of fulfillment = 1 in 10^11

    3. Some 400 years before crucifixion was invented, both Israel’s King David and the prophet Zechariah described the Messiah’s death in words that perfectly depict that mode of execution.

    Psalm 34:20 NIV
    Zechariah 12:10 NIV
    Probability of fulfillment = 1 in 10^13

    4. The exact location and construction sequence of Jerusalem’s nine suburbs was predicted by Jeremiah about 2600 years ago.

    Jeremiah 31:38-40 NIV
    Probability of fulfillment = 1 in 10^18

    5. Virgin birth 700 BC and genealogy of Jesus.

    Isaiah 7:14 NIV
Probability of fulfillment =1 out of 1000 trillions.

    Euphrates river prophecy

    Revelation 16:12 NIV

    Revelation 9:14-15 NIV

Red Heifers and the rebuilding of the third temple.

Why did the Jews stop their sacrifices?

In 2015, they completed an altar needed to restart sacrifices and performed a reenactment of the Passover sacrifice. In 2017, they performed a sacrifice near the Temple Mount, a controversial act that resulted in some being arrested.
In 2018, they were given permission to perform a reenactment of the Passover sacrifice at the foot of the Temple Mount.

    Numbers 19:2-3 NIV

    2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 NLT

    Boundaries

    Boundaries

Welcome to Passionate Life Church! This week we are blessed to have Dee Dee sharing the importance of boundaries in your life. Join us this Sunday!
    -----------------------------------------------------
    What are Boundaries?

Why are boundaries important as Christians?

    Did Jesus set boundaries?
    Yes!

He condemned the religious leaders who were hypocritical and disregarded God's laws:
    Matthew 23:27-28 NIV

Jesus also set personal boundaries by taking time for solitude and prayer:
    Mark 1:35 NIV

He refused to perform miracles for those who demanded them as a sign:
    Matthew 12:38-39 NIV

Jesus taught his disciples about the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation, but also emphasized the need to confront and address sin within the community:
    Matthew 18:15-17 NIV

    Boundary Myths:

    Boundaries are selfish:

    Boundaries are barriers to intimacy:

    Boundaries are rigid and inflexible:

Boundaries are unnecessary in close relationships:

    Setting boundaries means confrontation:

Why do we struggle to set boundaries?

    Lack of assertiveness skills

    Fear of conflict or rejection

    Enmeshment or codependency

    Lack of support or validation

Low self-esteem, guilt, or fear of being selfish.

    Boundary sayings:

“Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should”.

“Where do I end and someone else begins?” (differentiation)

    “Don’t work harder than them”.

“Your disappointment is not a consequence for someone’s bad behavior”.

“If you are consistently overly responsible in a relationship you allow the other person to be under responsible”

    Boundary Truths:

When we try to please others without taking God’s instructions we make an agreement with the enemy

When we don’t set boundaries we give up our voice and relinquish our authority

Do nothing out of Fear or Shame

Be a Truth Teller. You have the fruits of the Spirit so that you can speak the Truth in Love

This world is filled with traps…people who will steal our peace and wear us out “energy vampires”

Lack of boundaries and over stepping boundaries are both generational sins

God calls us to be emotionally strong and healthy. We are to fight the battle He has set before us. We are to be alert, stay in His Word, and listen for His instructions and strategies. We are to know our value and worth, be honest with ourselves, face hard things and be brave enough to have difficult conversations with others.

    Galations 1:10 NIV

    Proverbs 4:20-27 NIV
