    John Martin is the Director of Aftercare for the Fit-Ops Foundation. 
    Fit-Ops is a charitable organization that trains US Military Veterans to become trainers through a fully-funded three-week Bootcamp. 
     
    During their time at Fit-Ops, veterans learn the skills and techniques they need to know to become personal trainers, and Fit-Ops also instructs them business and job-searching skills. 
    Most importantly, however, Fit-Ops dedicates much of their training to help veterans to overcome their mental blocks and potential mental trauma. 
     
    The organization has a dedicated staff that’s meant to look after veterans after they leave the camp. This is called “aftercare” and it continues as long as graduates remain in the Fit-Ops network.

    Today’s episode features Ben Patrick (“Knees Over Toes Guy”), coach and founder of the “Athletic Truth Group.”
     
    Ben overcame debilitating knee and shin pain, as well as subsequent surgeries through a personal journey taking knee and foot strength training means to their fullest potential.  Ben transformed his basketball career, going from being continually injured and under-achieving to having a successful junior college stint through improving his own knee health and performance. This culminated for Ben with a scholarship offer to Boston University for basketball, but due to NCAA eligibility rules, Ben turned it down and began training athletes.

    From CrossFit to the Combine w/ Paul Beckwith, Anders Varner, Doug Larson, and Coach Travis Mash Barbell Shrugged

    Paul Beckwith has worked with athletes of all ages and experience. Born and raised in Dillon, South Carolina, Beckwith moved to Palatka, Florida, where he was a four‐year letterman in football, wrestling, track and field and weightlifting. Following graduation, he played football at the University of South Carolina, where he was an All‐SEC performer and four‐year starter on the offensive line.
     
    After a stellar college career, Paul declined a free agent deal with several NFL teams to pursue his passion in the strength and conditioning profession. After completing his degree in business management, he worked as a strength and conditioning coach at USC, advising the football, baseball, soccer, golf, swimming and diving and track and field programs prior to joining Apex.
    Beckwith’s multiple certifications include; OPEX Advanced Coach with expertise in assessment, program design, nutrition and life coaching; United States Weightlifting trained with certification in Olympic lifting. Paul has trained professional athletes representing the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), Major League Soccer (MLS), Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) and U.S. Olympic Weightlifting.

As a fat guy, I listen to these guys for motivation. Then, last week, they kind of started putting down fat people. Not too motivating.
