This was given a ‘clean’ rating, which is totally false considering the couch jokes. I thought Lewis was better than this, being a so called evangelical. They need to log off Twitter sometimes as the rest of the country isn’t into this nonsense.
Bill Scher lost the plot and the show is now unlistenable.

This used to be a great show that I looked forward to listening to. As a centrist Democrat I enjoyed hearing both hosts debate in good faith argument, often finding more common ground than one would think. But since the party went hard left on social virtue signaling and intersectionality under Biden, and likely because Scher has invested so much of his personal identity in being a pious progressive parent, Scher has become a contrarian defender of left wing culture pedagogy who has sealed himself inside a willfully ignorant bubble. It’s become such a blind spot for Scher he now sounds woefully out of touch on far too many political issues touched by culture. As an example, in the latest episode Scher’s hopelessly misguided and bizarre takes on adolescent transgender and parental rights in education takes have him saying things like ‘Ron DeSantis is facing a potential loss in his bid for re-election as Florida governor.’ That’s…nuts. DeSantis is popular , as is his parental rights legislation which is supported by a majority of Florida Democrats. Last year Scher and Lewis had one episode where they discussed ‘trans’ related issues in which Lewis tried to talk him off the ledge only for Scher to become furious where he angrily shouted Lewis down. At the time it was kind of funny to see a host lose his cool, but that was pretty much the beginning of the end for this show. Bill used to be great at analysis, but now he’s just great at spinning the world around him into a shape that fits his own very emotional moral priors. It’s sad and unlistenable.

Based on Bills review of the closer, he must be a professional critic from rotten tomatoes.

Bill and Matt have great chemistry together as they provide political commentary from the opposite side of the isle. Always an enjoyable listen. They are not married to each other, but sometimes it’s hard to know for sure.

Love this conversation. These people are friends with common concerns and values and yet have different political labels. Their voices get heated, but they are always kind. Thank you.
Great friendly discussion

I must admit that this is just about the only explicitly political podcast that I can stand to listen to anymore. I guess the FiveThrityEight podcast is pretty good too but I'm not enough of a political super-junkie to love it. All the other ones are basically seem to fall into three categories: 1) they are coming from a clear partisan viewpoint and preaching to the chior 2) they pretend to be just objective commentators but obviously have a partisan viewpoint and assume that those who don't share that viewpoint are simply unenlightened idiots 3) they represent different viewpoints but just shout or talk past one another. This podcast, by contrast, has two people who are clearly coming from different sides, but aren't trying to argue with each other - they're just having a discussion. How refreshing!
Great civil political analysis

I’m a longtime listener to this podcast. Bill Scher and Matt Lewis offer in depth political analysis from both sides of the aisle without ever being rude to each other. Scher is a pragmatic progressive while Lewis is a conservative who is an expert on how and why the conservative movement and the Republican Party went so wrong. The proceedings are lively, engaging, and often funny.

Listened to Kavanaugh banter. Enlightening to hear how left leaners think —- more listenable than the alphabet news in that regard. I’ll listen again to see if any common sense is displayed on another topic.
