Ep 92 Modern Epidemic of Perfectionism 3x5 Life Podcast "Purpose-Driven Productivity"

    • Health & Fitness

"Perfectionism is the belief that if we live perfect, look perfect, and act perfect, we can minimize or avoid the pain of blame, judgement, and shame. It's a shield. It's a twenty-ton shield that we lug around thinking it will protect us when, in fact, it's the thing that's really preventing us from flight.” - Brene Brown

On this week's podcast episode, Jessie digs into perfectionism and how it is affecting our children, communities and self. The bar for what is "successful and expected" is continuing to rise and this feeling of not being able to meet societal expectations is linked to mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, self harm and eating disorders.

Want to take action? Heck Yeah!

1️⃣ Think about times or situations where perfectionism arises for you? What activities are brining out these feelings? Dig into where these feelings could be rooted; is it a comparison?

2️⃣ Focus your attention on areas of strength and confidence. Why do you feel confident? How can you strengthen this or find more opportunities to utilize this super power?

3️⃣ If you aren't sure of your strengths... ask a partner, family member or friend what they think you do really well.
