Karolyne LaFortune | Embracing your authentic erotic for self-connection and inner strength

In this everyday burnout conversation, I sit down to chat with Karolyne LaFortune, owner of EmbodiPole Sensual Arts.
When Karolyne first discovered pole dancing, little did she know it would become her sanctuary and means of profound self-discovery.

Her initial pole focus was a fitness-focused mindset propelled by the masculine energy of ambition, action, drive, and strength. However, when her life changed with the pandemic, pregnancy, and becoming a mum to two young children, this orchestrated a fascinating shift towards her focusing now on the feminine forces—a space of receptivity, emotion, and presence. Karolyne shares how this transition allowed her to tap into her body's intuition, slow down, and embark on a holistic growth and healing path.

As the conversation progresses, we explore the dynamic interplay of masculine and feminine energies within pole dancing and how it mirrors that balance necessary in life, contributing to our overall well-being and interpersonal relationships.
Karolyne helps us contemplate the equilibrium of self-care and self-love, reminding us of how vital it is to listen to our bodies and trust our intuition, especially when the world seems to push us to our limits.

Jess Frost | Unveiling the trauma, burnout and healing of Adult Children of Alcoholics

Jess Frost | Unveiling the trauma, burnout and healing of Adult Children of Alcoholics

In this episode, I share an everyday burnout conversation with the fabulous, Jess Frost.

    TW for this episode:
    Suicide and addiction

1 in 5 of us are affected by others drinking.

Many children grow up caretaking for parents with addiction and work tirelessly to protect the family 'secret'. Subconsciously learning that it isn't safe to talk, feel or trust. These beliefs have a real detrimental impact on connection, self-care, self-worth, intimacy, vulnerability and access to support in later life.

Jess Frost is a Holistic Empowerment Coach, Breathwork Teacher and Somatic EMDR Practitioner for Adult Children of Alcoholics, and Co-Founder of the wellbeing organisation The 3E Space. Jess globally works with ACoA's both 1:1 and in her group empowerment programme COurAgeous Healing.

After 15 years of working in fast-paced recruitment sales and following a life-changing period of severe burnout and breakdown in 2017, Jess embarked on her empowering path back to herself, and now helps others to do the same. Jess is passionate about integrating a range of integrative tools into her holistic practice, including Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Hypnotherapy, Time Line Therapy, Parts work, EFT Tapping,  Somatic EMDR and Conscious-Connected Breathwork.

Jess is on a mission to ensure that as many ACoAs as possible know how worthy they are of putting themselves first and that they are not alone.

Amanda Charles | The fusion of intuition and emotional healing with The Psychic Psychologist

Amanda Charles | The fusion of intuition and emotional healing with The Psychic Psychologist

Amanda Charles CPsychol., is a highly sought-after and experienced International Chartered Counselling Psychologist (BPS), Registered Practitioner Psychologist (HCPC), Life Coach, NLP Practitioner, Hypno-Psychotherapist, Reiki Healer, Psychic-Medium, and Meditation & Mindfulness Teacher.

When Amanda, the "Psychic Psychologist," first combined the worlds of psychology and psychic intuition, she braced herself for professional scrutiny. Yet, this deep-dive conversation reveals how this unconventional pairing has become the cornerstone of her life's work.

Her new book, THE PSYCHIC PSYCHOLOGIST, is for anyone who has ever felt burnt out, exhausted, is dealing with chronic illness impacting the quality of their life, or for anyone wanting guidance in tapping more deeply into their higher power and intuition.

Listeners are treated to Amanda's insights on the 'hierarchy of healing,' which draws parallels to Maslow's hierarchy of needs and explains why we need to reconnect with various levels of self in healing.

Amanda opens up about her extraordinary experiences, from precognitive dreams in childhood to the transformative health challenges that forced her to reexamine the link between emotional stress and physical well-being. She shares how these personal trials led to profound insights about holistic self-care, the lessons illnesses can teach us, and the power of psychological guidance in healing.

As we reflect on these beautiful stories, Amanda reminds us of the importance of community support, the power of embracing our true self, and the transformative nature of personal growth – a theme that resonates with anyone stepping into their own path of self-discovery after burnout.

Andrea Anderson | Navigating autistic burnout, unveiling neurodiversity and the path to self-acceptance

Andrea Anderson | Navigating autistic burnout, unveiling neurodiversity and the path to self-acceptance

In this everyday burnout conversation, I sit down to chat with the fabulous Andrea Anderson.
Andrea is a late discovered Autistic woman on a mission to help create environments for neurodivergence to belong.

Andrea has experienced burnout during her 10+ years of working in fast-paced and growing fashioninesses such as Topshop, Topman, and digital bus and ASOS. She is now a remarkable writer, neurodivergent educator and certified professional coach.

Amidst stories of managing multiple burnouts and advocating for self-care, Andrea and I discuss the life-changing and enlightening path of her seeking a neurodiversity diagnosis at the age of 45 - a discovery that has fired her up to change the narrative to “we’re different, not difficult”.

Andrea helps illuminate this journey, which is rife with biases and the all-too-narrow medical model that often fails to recognise the strengths and capabilities inherent in neurodivergent individuals.

We go on to peel back the layers of societal pressures and a compulsion to conform with the hidden cost on people’s wellbeing, especially on neurodivergent individuals. Her insights on the corporate world's often narrow view of employee well-being lead us to discuss the role of self-compassion and the importance of the tribe we find—or create—along the way.

Join us for this intimate conversation on self-discovery and a celebration of the joys of finding true belonging within ourselves.

More about Andrea and her work

Andrea educates and advocates for neurodivergence through her writing and forthcoming book, in addition to her work with businesses and institutions that are ready to accept neurodivergence and remove barriers for neurodivergent humans to thrive.

Andrea's debut book, This is Who I am… the autistic woman's creative guide to belonging, is set for release this Summer, wherre she dives deep into the raw reactions and difficult emotions that surface when uncovering an unknown difference in yourself.

Michaela Thomas | The silent struggles of ADHD burnout and neurodivergent overwhelm

Michaela Thomas | The silent struggles of ADHD burnout and neurodivergent overwhelm

In this everyday burnout conversation, I chat with Michaela Thomas.
Michaela is a Senior Clinical Psychologist, CBT Psychotherapist, and couples therapist. She is the founder and clinical director of The Thomas Connection, the author of "The Lasting Connection," and the host of the podcast Pause Purpose Play.

Michaela runs the 'Burnout to Burn Bright' program and is creating a new program, Lost Girls,  aiming to support women with ADHD who have been misdiagnosed or went unrecognised in their childhood.

Michaela shares the challenges faced by women with ADHD, since perfectionism and people-pleasing are often coping mechanisms that are developed. She sheds light on everyday experiences, such as the toll of constant demands and the emotional labour involved in maintaining a façade of normalcy in environments that rarely cater to neurodivergent needs.

Michaela candidly talks about navigating the path to her own recent ADHD diagnosis,  discussing the importance of self-compassion and how to manage ADHD-related overwhelm.

Masking ADHD is like performing on a stage day in, day out, without ever taking a bow - it's bloody exhausting. This episode peels back the curtain on the silent battles those with ADHD face, from draining meetings to finding solace in solitude. We shine a spotlight on the revelation that thriving with ADHD requires more than just learning to 'overcome' it -  a cornerstone of our conversation on neurodivergent needs.

Join us for this heartfelt episode that illuminates the nuances of ADHD and burnout and celebrates the compassion and strength found in community and self-care.

Alexis Lee | The healing self-discovery path of ditching shame and reclaiming pleasure

In this episode, I share an everyday burnout conversation with Alexis Lee.
From confronting sexual trauma to breaking free of societal chains and finding true self-expression, this beautiful conversation is beautifully raw and unfiltered.

Alexis helps us delve into the power of embracing our desires, shares the courage it takes to reshape a life at its midway point, and shows us how exploring ourselves can lead to the most unexpected of loves—choosing ourselves!
We tackle burnout, the wisdom of listening to our bodies, and how setting boundaries can be an act of profound self-love. The art of communication, especially in the intimate corners of our lives, can spark a societal transformation, moving us closer to a future of empowerment.

Alexis's insights from her book, "Feeling Myself," serve as a clarion call for women to take ownership of their pleasure without apology.

    About Alexis:
Alexis started her blog, Style Me Sunday, in July 2012. It began as a fashion blog but soon evolved as she changed and started to open up about other things like body confidence, mental health and her healing process following having children and her new perspective.

Alexis runs events, courses, hosts podcasts, models, has been a speaker, and has been a popular sought after panellist.

She’s completed levels 2 and 3 in counselling and is currently undertaking a post-grad course in Psychotherapy. She runs community spaces Healing Myself and now Black Enough?!
