Stop Being Surprised! How to Manage Your Emotions in a Relationship with a High Conflict Co-Parent

In this episode, you're going to learn tips to help you keep your emotions in check post-divorce when you are in an on-going relationship with a high conflict co-parent.  If you struggle to keep the drama out communicating with your ex-spouse or constantly feel shocked by his/her behaviors, this show will give you a renewed sense of hope and strategies to use.

I am so happy to introduce Jayna Haney, who is the founder of The Bridge Across for Single Parents and Stepfamilies.  She understands from her own personal experience how challenging the relationships between co-parents can be after a divorce and how much stress and anxiety everyone feels.

As you listen to her explain more about co-parenting, stepfamilies, and re-partnering and her examples, you will be so relieved to know you are not alone and what behaviors you can expect in high conflict co-parenting relationships.

I wished I would have known about these strategies years ago after I went through a divorce to give me the tools I needed to manage my own emotions and understand more about the behaviors to expect from my co-parent.  It would have saved me a lot of stress and allowed me to understand how to plan ahead when higher conflict times were to be expected.

I want you to listen, because she is really going to change the way you experience this kind of relationship with insightful explanation and new great strategies to implement.

Man Courage - Helping Men Feel More Connected

Man Courage - Helping Men Feel More Connected

In this episode, Heather interviews Mike Haney,  who is the Founder of Man Courage.  As a men's coach, Mike helps successful, professional men find peace and confidence at home and connect better with their wives, children, family and community.  He has had 30+ years of life experiences as a husband, single parent, dad and step-dad, and understands the challenges men face in their family lives.  He identifies with how men, after life events, have feelings of grief/loss, loneliness, isolation, and stress from demanding careers and navigating their relationships at home.  Ultimately, men become less connected and this can lead to depression and anxiety and unhealthy coping skills to overcome these challenges.  He personally believes and shares with men the importance of being intentional through words and actions with their family in order to cultivate a loving environment for the whole family.  He has a passion for helping men be more intentional in their lives and describes this as "his fix" in his life and being of service to other men.

In this episode, Heather interviews Janda Shipp, RN, postpartum survivor and single mom who is passionate about helping new moms and their family members gain the necessary tools to understand and deal with this serious mental health illness that can affect new moms soon after having a baby.  Heather and Janda discuss very candidly the feelings and thoughts of fear, anxiety, exhaustion, sadness and how the need for self-care and meeting the basic needs of new mothers is paramount and crucial.  They discuss the need for family support and observing the signs to look for and address early on with their loved one who is potentially living with postpartum depression, so they can take the steps to intervene and get help.  Postpartum depression can lead to disconnect between a mother and her child, as well as other important relationships and Janda stresses the importance of women being screened for this mental illness at regular visits so health professionals can gain insight and began taking preventative steps with open and honest communication to get new moms the help and support they need so they don't have to suffer in silence and enjoy this time in their lives that is meant to be joyful.
