    Is it a Slip? A Relapse? A Setback? - Episode 183

Healing from addictive and compulsive behaviors is a long road that often includes returning to old problematic behaviors. As disappointing and hurtful as it is for both the recovering partner and the betrayed partner, it is vital that the conversation around what happened is done with honesty, accountability, and compassion for the betrayed partner. In this episode we discuss the harmful effects of using minimizing language that can imply that the effect on the partner or relationship is minimal or inconsequential. We discuss the importance of emphasizing remorse and accountability when talking about returning to harmful patterns.

Excellent information here

This helped me heal relationship with physical intimacy health. it has helped healing in relationship with my wife. Also the recent episode about food was very fascinating. And I have healed my dysfunctional relationship with food this past year by striving my best to turn toward the Lord’s words of wisdom regarding what is best for our bodies. Thankful for scripture that teaches these things.

Balanced and empathetic info.

Thank you SO MUCH for this podcast! I found it several months ago and it has been a total game changer for my husband and I. Geoff and Jody share very openly about the daily issues and healing obstacles that we can encounter on our path to recovery and healing from sexual betrayal/addiction in marriage. It’s a couple centered approach that keeps individual needs in mind while avoiding glossing over the really hard/vulnerable pieces. In the middle of all of THAT… they offer practical ways to move forward that give hope, where before, my husband and I didn’t really have much. I’m so grateful for how authentic (and generous) these guys are!
