Sweeping Your Side of the Street - Episode 252

There are always complex challenges and dynamics in managing one's own recovery after betrayal or broken trust, and it is often tempting to become overly invested in a partner’s recovery journey as well.  Perhaps you've heard the recovery metaphor of 'sweeping your side of the street,' and how partners can sometimes fall into patterns of over-controlling each other's healing processes. We recognize there's an individual process in the recovery journey, but how do you ignore the very real relational issues that surface in recovery work? Join us in this episode as we discuss the significance of individual responsibility, the difficulty of balancing support without being directive, and the need for open communication and visible effort in the recovery process. It is important to remember the need for patience, understanding, and making conscious decisions to allow each partner to work through their own healing journey.

Should I Stay Or Go? - with Amie Woolsey - Episode 249

Typically our podcast and practice focuses on repairing relationships. But within that work is the very real question of “should I stay or should I go?” In this episode we invited Amie Woolsey to discuss the challenging topic of deciding whether to stay in or leave a relationship following serious betrayals such as infidelity, abuse, or neglect. The conversation highlights the complexities and emotional turmoil involved in making such decisions, including the pressure from societal and religious expectations and the fear of outcomes like financial insecurity and the impact on children. Amie emphasizes the importance of personal agency, safety, and self-trust in the decision-making process, advocating for a thoughtful, nuanced approach that goes beyond black-and-white thinking.

Helpful hopeful healing

One of the most helpful podcasts on betrayal and hope for couples. Geoff and Jodie provide hope for healing, recognizing the pain of the betrayed, and accountability and growth for the betrayer. I never miss an episode.

And I said podcasts weren’t for me

I heard everyone talking about podcasts, and tried a few, but just couldn’t get into them… until these. Wow, Geoff and Jody are so easy to listen to, giving clear understanding on so many topics I never thought I’d find answers to regarding betrayal and porn/sex addiction. I found myself binge listening every time I got in my car and said to myself “ Yes! That’s exactly what’s going on.” Every episode shed more light not only my struggles but my husband’s too. We are grateful to have these resources and highly recommend them!
