Self-Discovery Through Fashion with Lauren Messiah

In this episode of the Get Loved Up Podcast, Koya Webb welcomes Lauren Messiah, style expert, entrepreneur, digital influencer, educator, and author of Style Therapy: 30 Days to Your Signature Style.

Lauren shares her entrepreneurial journey and how she has shifted from teaching people how to style, to teaching others how to start a successful and sustainable styling business. Not only did this empower her students more, it also gave her more satisfaction and fulfillment with her career.

Lauren suggests that having a purpose should be at the core of a styling business. You cannot simply enter it because you think the clothes are pretty. In her style therapy, Lauren also teaches that women should learn to love their body for what it is and see the beauty of it as the body that has grown with you and weathered the highs and lows.

She also shares the role of daily meditation in her practice and how she pre-plans her outfits to remove the stress and uncertainty over feeling good in your own clothes. And as Lauren struggled with alcohol, she also gives tips on how you can get sober too and change your life for the better.

Removing Shame And Communicating Honestly with Moby

Removing Shame And Communicating Honestly with Moby

In this episode of the Get Loved Up Podcast, Koya Webb welcomes Moby, musician, songwriter, singer, and producer who has sold more than 20 million records worldwide. Moby shares his journey towards veganism and the lasting realization that animals are to be cared for, not hurt and killed.

Moby also gets vulnerable by talking about the pains of his past and how he is grateful for the person he is today, partly because of all the horrible things that happened in the past. This means he has accepted that it is through adversity that people learn the most.

In his life experience, he tells the audience to get rid of the shame and simply communicate to others. You might be surprised to know that it doesn’t surprise anyone and that talking about it is the path to healing.

Moby also shares the deep insight he has on music as a spiritual expression. He does not need to understand what spirit is, but what he knows is that music has the ability to move people even though all music is air moving a little differently.

He shares much more, such as his thoughts on spirituality and how he has accepted that he doesn't know what the divine really is, but that it doesn't stop him from pursuing it honestly. He also touches on the dilution of spiritual expression by social media, the proliferation of hate due to algorithms, and the publishing of his cookbook.
