Social Media Is Fake, Here Are Some Things That Are True About Performative Vulnerability

Social Media Is Fake, Here Are Some Things That Are True About Performative Vulnerability

This week, Kat is talking about Performative vulnerability again. Performative vulnerability is what happens when we use sharing (or oversharing) parts of our lives in order to gain something in return, such as attention or feelings of superiority. It can look like an example of altruism on the outside; risking judgment for the greater good of others feeling less alone or more connected. However, the intentions of those who engage in this are far from selfless. And although it is super frustrating when we see this displayed around us, this episode is less about how we can call others behavior out and more about how we can learn to pay better  attention to our intentions and our actions.

Amazing

No matter where you are on your mental health journey, this podcast is for you. Kat is relatable, funny, and passionate about what she does. She brings in great guests, but even her solo episodes are so insightful. Give this a listen! You won’t regret it.

Weekly Must Listen!

I’m a weekly listener of 4 months! I was introduced to you need therapy through Amy Brown’s podcast. I really enjoyed hearing Amy and Kat chat like they were some of my girlfriends having coffee in my kitchen, so when I heard Kat mention her own podcast, I was eager to give it a listen. I also began my own personal therapy journey this year to begin addressing several topics in my life and so I appreciate hearing from the therapists perspective, but also I feel like Kat is just like another friend, talking to us, her friends, honestly about all sorts of things. I also really appreciate the variety that she brings to the show. Big fan!!!

I’m a regular listener. Have been for over a year now. I found Kat because she and Amy Brown collaborate. I love listening to Kat give a therapist’s insight on real life issues. Couch talks is a really useful and intriguing addition to the Podcast!
