Introducing: Essential Voices with Wilmer Valderrama

Since you love this podcast, we think you might like this one as well. Check out the trailer for the all-new podcast, Essential Voices with Wilmer Valderrama.
The Covid-19 pandemic introduced the term “Essential Workers” for a class of people who existed before and will persist long after the virus is gone. Vital to society, but rarely heard from, this “essential” class is often hit hardest by the imbalances and injustices of our culture. In each episode, host Wilmer Valderrama will have intimate conversations with people on the frontlines of the food system, transportation, child-care and other workers who are so often overlooked. That conversation leads to a round-table discussion with activists and politically-active celebrities, discussing themes, issues and areas of needed change. The show seeks to reveal the invisible connections between all of us.

Megan Devine: Experiencing Grief. How to Carry What Can’t Be Fixed. The Middle Path. Gratitude.

Megan Devine: Experiencing Grief. How to Carry What Can’t Be Fixed. The Middle Path. Gratitude.

Grief counselor, psychotherapist, writer, grief advocate & communication expert, Megan Devine {@refugeingrief}, is on for all 4 things today! Megan is dedicated to helping people live through things they never thought they’d have to face. In 2009, she watched her partner, Matt, drown. FIRST THING: Megan shares her experience with grief and how it changed her life & relationships with others! Megan wants people to know it’s okay that you’re not okay and how to best meet grief & loss in a society that doesn’t understand. SECOND THING: Journaling through grief with Megan’s latest book: “How to Carry What Can’t Be Fixed.” THIRD THING: Megan debunks the culturally prescribed goal of returning to a normal, “happy” life, replacing it with a far healthier middle path, one that invites us to build a life alongside grief rather than seeking to overcome it. FOURTH THING: Megan shares with us 4 things she is grateful for. She also shared with us that gratitude is a companion to grief...not something you can do to get rid of any grief.

Be Antiracist with Ibram X. Kendi. Tell Me Something Good. be the change. Be the Bridge.

FIRST THING: New York Times bestselling author & antiracist activist, Ibram X. Kendi {@ibramxk}, talked with Amy about his new podcast that just launched called “Be Antiracist.” Ibram is all about freeing humanity from racism & we hope you enjoy today’s chat. SECOND THING: Amy shares a “Tell Me Something Good” story about a 94-year-old Alabama grandmother that got to try on a wedding dress 70 years AFTER her big day. In 1952 when she got married, black women weren’t allowed in bridal shops, so she never got to have that experience. THIRD THING: @TheShopForward has an ‘Ally Fund’ and ALL proceeds from each item are donated to organizations fighting racial injustice in all forms. As Angela Davis said, "it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be antiracist." We will continue to listen, learn, and stand up against systemic racism. We need to be the change. FOURTH THING: A great resource for learning more is @BeTheBridge. They empower people and culture toward racial healing, equity and reconciliation.

Amy Shares: Interview with Former Prime Minster of Haiti, Laurent Lamothe

Amy’s ‘5th Thing’ (a bonus episode) is a little different today. Given the current fragile climate in Haiti (before & after the assassination of their President), Amy & Meri wanted to sit down with the former Prime Minister of Haiti, Laurent Lamothe to give us a better understanding of what’s going on & how we can best support. @ShopEspwa is a way that we can raise funds for Haiti and ALL items will be going to ‘espwa’ partners to help them deal with certain needs that may arise during this difficult time. ShopEspwa.com to shop & support (this includes all ‘4 things’ items too!)

So Happy

I’m so happy I started listening to this podcast again! I’m a long time listener to BBS and 4things, but have fallen behind. I’m so happy I have been about to catch up on Amy’s podcast, the guests and topics have been so helpful to where I am in my life. Thank you for sharing and being vulnerable with your listeners.

Amy is a breath of fresh air!

I am a Day 1 Listener! Amy has evolved and made many new changes since her first episode and I have always appreciated her being as open and honest with her listeners as possible. Each week Amy has such different topics and brings on really cool and diverse guests and I’ve learned a lot from each episode and have changed in many ways… for the better! Tuesday’s 5th Thing episodes are great! Thanks, Amy!

Used to be fun

This podcast used to be fun. Now I feel like I’m being indoctrinated. It was such an awesome podcast when you first released it. Four things. Life things. Fun things. Interesting things. Amy things! Can we get back to that? Step away from the serious and the yuck. Go back to fun. I miss fun Amy.
