Episode 302: Dr. Maira Soliani
Thank you for joining us for another episode of the Low Carb MD Podcast. Dr. Maira Soliani is a low-carb anesthesiologist from Brazil. Dr. Soliani graduated in 2009 and concluded her anesthesiology specialty in 2013. She holds a PhD since 2016 from Campinas State University (UNICAMP) in Brazil. In this conversation, Drs. Tro, Brian, and Maira talk about the work of Gary Taubes and Dr. Jason Fung, how Maira started treating patients using a low-carb lifestyle intervention approach, how often a doctor should meet with a patient for optimal results, the logistics and organization involved in providing excellent, dedicated service to a large amount of patients, defining and treating food addiction, loneliness, metabolic disease, and mental health, the importance of social support as a factor for success with one’s diet, the power of mindset, studies on the placebo effect, the power of motivational interviewing, and The Hacking of the American Mind by Robert Lustig.

Found my Tribe
Thank you for the information and support. It can be a lonely journey when you are surrounded by the unhealthy “normal” and particularly those closest to us. It is amazing to hear from others on the same path who get it. I just joined Dr Lenzkes practice and he turned me onto this podcast yesterday. I have already listened to 2 episodes and am thrilled not only to have found my tribe but to have picked up great tips to enjoy the journey and make this work better for me. My why is health. The weight loss not as big a deal for me but it’s a nice extra bonus to be going from Medium and fine to Small and awesome.
