    Who's Winning the "Slight Edge" of Life?

    ➥ Today we're going to be talking about a concept called the slight edge. Now where this come from is a book by a gentleman name of Jeff Olson, a book called the slight edge, an amazing book. I have read this book at least four times, and I just love, love, love the concepts in this book because it's so helps me to continue to move through life in a positive way and understanding how sometimes we could fail or those having success can drop off.

    ✅  You wonder, well, how did they fail? Or how did people all of a sudden be at the bottom and then boom, things are going great. What's the processes. And what's our steps for that to happen.  And continue happening in the positive forward and up directly.

    ⚡ The overlying concept is life is not a straight line. Our physical health, our mental health, everything we're doing in life is not a straight line. We are either on a daily basis dropping off the slight edge, meaning that maybe that day didn't go so good or things aren't happening the way we want it to.

    ✅  Or they've gotten better that day.  And we have done the things we needed to do. We have done the little daily disciplines we want to do that have gotten us better that day, as far as mentally and physically, but understanding that it's not the big booms of life.

    Yes. There's some big booms in life that happened, but the longterm success is dependent on this, the little daily mundane habits. The little daily disciplines, we do day upon day upon day.

    ⚡ And that's like compounding interest. They compound, and we will have a line of either success long-term going upward, or we can possibly see a line of falling off, which would be the opposite of success where, it's kind of the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff. We're falling off the edge, shall I say?  💖

    ➥ Hey, it's Chef Michael, Certified Culinary Nutrition Expert here at Doctoronamission, and in this episode,  I want to talk to you about "five healthy holiday survival tips."

    Now, if you could really care less about surviving the holidays healthy, well then just go ahead and pop off. However, I'd love for you to hang around, but I'm going to talk about how to cope through the holidays, and have a fantastic time, still eat and drink.

    🔵  I'm not talking about not doing anything and not having any fun and not having some food that you wouldn't normally have and some drinks you wouldn't normally have.

    But I'm talking about getting into mid to late January and then being, "Ok, I'm ready to get back into my shape again."

    🔵  You may be feeling a little foggy, feeling a little, oh, a little lumpy, shall I say?
    And instead of it taking you weeks and months, maybe it's even March or April till you start to feel yourself.

    🔶 Dani says; " I grew up in complete chaos. My grandfather had died by suicide. My mother attempted suicide multiple times. I had chronic diarrhea from all the stress in my house and I had two abusive stepfathers.  I had my very first colonoscopy at age 18. And then 15 years later, I was still struggling with IBS.

    I was in a very difficult marriage. I too had decided to die by suicide that morning in Paducah, Kentucky and made the decision that's what I was going to do, and there was nothing anyone could do.

    🔶 And then all of a sudden my kids came in the room and it was all God. And they were mama, mama what's for breakfast. My husband was at work and I looked at them immediately and I knew I'm not going to, there's no way I can leave those kids with him.  And I got up, I fed the children food, and the rest is history."

    Dani Williamson is now  a Family Nurse Practitioner with a thriving functional medicine practice called "Integrative Family Medicine" located in Franklin, Tennessee. Dani is living, walking, breathing proof that there is a vibrant life after a “lifelong” diagnosis is handed down to you. For decades, Dani suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Lupus and on and off depression.

    🔶 It wasn’t until after graduating from Vanderbilt and working in a naturally minded medical practice that a medical professional asked her a life-changing question: “Dani, what are you eating?  Don’t you know that your diet controls your disease?”

    From that moment on, she has been on a tireless pursuit to transform her patient’s lives through her six rules: eat well, sleep well, move well, poop well, de-stress well, and commune well.

    ✅  Dr. Isabel and Dr. Carrie dive into the depths of hormones, what may be happening to you, and what you can do to get some answers and solutions.

    Dr. Carrie has been in the field 20+ years and with DUTCH since the start in 2013. She has been interested in women's health for a long time and find that explaining hormones and how they work in the body is really important to give people that A-ha moment of why they have certain symptoms.

    ✅  Carrie Jones, ND, FABNE, MPH is an internationally recognized speaker, consultant, and educator on the topic of women's health and hormones. Dr. Jones graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon where she also completed a 2-year residency in women's health, hormones, and endocrinology.

    Later, she graduated from Grand Canyon University's Master of Public Health program. Recently, Dr. Jones became board certified through the American Board of Naturopathic Endocrinology. She was adjunct faculty for many years, teaching gynecology and advanced endocrinology/fertility.

    ✅  While in practice, Dr. Jones served as Medical Director for 2 large integrative clinics in Portland. Most recently, she joined Lifestyle Matrix Resource Center as the Clinical Expert serving the SOS Stress Recovery Program and is the Medical Director for Precision Analytical Inc.

    🔵 In this episode, Dr. Isabel MD chats with Holistic Health Coach, Jane Dye about "Energizing Your Life."

    Jane says; "I'll tell you a little bit how I got to where I am. So for most of my life I've been considered healthy. However, I've had amazing health challenges even before I was born. My mother always told me that my birth was a miracle because she endured a pregnancy with a uterine tumor, which surgery was recommended. And for the delivery save her life and hopefully to save mine, the doctor said they would just wait and see how it developed.

    🔵 But around the seventh or eighth months, she started getting really anxious. Cause she had two other children at home and a father who didn't really know how to be a primary caretaker. And she was concerned. She found out later that the tumor's gone. It's dissolved, so go home and have a happy, healthy baby. 

    My mother later told me that she thinks that that was the beginning of my health journey, that I was meant to understand this and, and to work with people who have interesting health challenges, but not too long after that, they brought me home and I suffered from multiple seizures a day.

    🔵 They went to all traditional health care practitioners to find a way to stop the seizures and nobody had the answers.  So these stories really ignited my fascination at a very, very young age with how the body works."
