    Parky Profiles: Kevin Cahill

    Parky Profiles: Kevin Cahill

For the next in our series of profiles of fascinating folk with Parkinson's, Paul introduces the gang to Kevin Cahill. For decades, Kevin was the Chief Executive of Comic Relief, a role that entitled him dubious honours, like employing Paul to write University Challenge sketches, and convincing Billy Connolly to run round Trafalgar Square in nothing but his God-given fatigues. Kevin joins the Movers and Shakers in the Notting Hill pub to discuss his life, career, and journey with Parkinson's.

BONUS: Parky Politics (Not) in the Pub – Victoria Atkins

On this bonus election episode of the podcast (don't worry, the politics is over and our Parky Profile series will resume on Saturday!) we're speaking to Victoria Atkins, the current Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. We discuss the impact that the Conservatives are having on the backlog in the health service, the future for neurological provision, and what she can – and can't – promise when it comes to the Parky Charter.

Parky Politics in the Pub – with Wes Streeting

In just a couple of weeks, Wes Streeting may find himself the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. Will he promise an influx of new neurologists? And how will he prevent the NHS succumbing to sclerosis? On this special election edition of Movers and Shakers, the gang put the prospective Health Secretary through his paces!

The Best

I’ve listened to lots of podcasts related to Parkinson’s- some scientific, some aiming for relevance on a personal level, some focused on possible breakthrough research. This show does it all, while sharing the very real stories/attitudes of 6 intelligent people dealing with the disease. They are often funny, always sincere, and smart enough to ask a great lineup of doctors to share their knowledge about everything from diet to mental health to healthcare systems and what’s missing in the care industry. Given the devastating effect this disease can have, I just want to thank these people for bothering to do it!! It’s a bit lifeline, a bit camaraderie, always a pleasure - and I believe I’ve learned as much or more from this show than I have from neurologists and other healthcare workers.

Movers and Shakers

Loved the positive attitude of the speakers. I am 10 years into my life with PD and got a great lift hearing the panel talking about their aliments. Keep going. Gordomcd

Funny and endearing, please fix the sound!

Love love love, I looked for a picture of you and was surprised to see you used microphones. The sound is not great and I hate missing a lot of what you share.
