My Sister's A Therapist

In the ocean of podcasts, My Sister’s A Therapist is in the top 5 podcasts that I listen to weekly. I hold off on listening to new episode(s) until a lull in my work day that will allow me to fully pay attention and listen to the content and conversation. I often catch myself saying “I can totally relate to that!” The lived experiences and respective careers of Virginia and Laura bring honesty, insight, integrity and humor to some rather heavy topics.

I was introduced to this podcast over last weekend and was shocked (SHOCKED, I say) that this had been off my radar so long. My Sister’s A Therapist is funny, insightful, smart, and actively restoring my faith in humanity. The first episode I listened to was “Heroes” about how being famous can make you an a-hole. Podcasts (for me) are usually just background noise for doing the monotonous chores around the house. However, this one got me putting my laundry on hold and immediately grabbing a pen to write things down. By the 10 minute mark, I was sitting at the end of my bed and exclaiming things like “EXACTLY!” and “THAT’S WHAT I’VE BEEN SAYING!” to my audience of dirty clothes and unmatched socks. It’s so rare to find a podcast that elicits a response but this one had me impulsively squawking “HALLELUJAH!” or physically raising my hand in agreement. Case in point, when talking about separating the art from the artist (when an artist’s work becomes intrinsically tied to your persona/DNA), my immediate thought was how I watched Morrissey collapse into the heap of grossness he is today. Immediately after, the host talked about her experience with THE SAME ARTIST! I seriously thought I was being trolled as these ladies were pulling thoughts out my mind bunch of sister brain worms. Even though my laundry might remain unfolded and my garage might look like the backdrop from “Sanford and Son: The Musical”, my brain is totally getting refreshed with every new episode of this podcast!

I can listen to you two talk about anything. Thank you for what you do, I’ve found every episode to be helpful, informative, entertaining, all the things. I found you a year ago when attending comedy at the park and Virginia delivered a great standup set. Btw the weekly episode art is amazing, I don’t know another pod that takes the time to do that! Love you!
