    Frederic Laloux | Trauma-Informed Organizations

    Frederic Laloux | Trauma-Informed Organizations

Thomas is joined by celebrated business thinker, social entrepreneur, Founder of "The Week", and author of Reinventing Organizations, Frederic Laloux. They discuss how hierarchy relies on certain people having power over others, and how this concept is antithetical to our true human nature, despite being deeply ingrained in society.
They explore Frederic’s work to help organizations shift to a “self-managing” model, and what it takes to get people on board. Frederic has learned that by bringing people together to surface their deepest assumptions about their way of operating, and examining what that implies about humanity, they can organically come to accept a non-hierarchical structure.
He and Thomas discuss how our economic and educational systems reify a worldview of scarcity and distrust, and how we would all benefit from a more communal society. They also dive deep into Frederic’s work on climate change, and how his organization “The Week” is creating spaces to process the harsh reality of environmental disaster so that we can discover new avenues to combat it without feeling alienated and alone.

    EP55 | Becoming and Belonging

    EP55 | Becoming and Belonging

Thomas discusses two forces that drive us as human beings: the will to become, and the will to belong. He explores how our formative parental relationships can either encourage or subdue our drive to become our authentic selves and how our early strategies to compensate for scarcity can influence our path as adults.
Thomas emphasizes the relationship between becoming and creativity and notes the harm caused by inhibiting a child’s freedom to be themselves. Ultimately, we all seek nourishing relationships imbued with supportive energy. And although trauma tends to reduce our spiritual energy, we can learn to reconnect to the source and get back to a place of abundance.

EP52 | Integrating the Past to Rewrite the Future

EP52 | Integrating the Past to Rewrite the Future

Thomas Hübl explores what motivates people to walk the spiritual path, and how it can be difficult to discern our true calling when our personal and societal environments are fragmented. He explains how being present with and processing our experiences allows us to fulfill our spiritual karma, heal inherited wounds, and close narrative circles that originated in the past.
Thomas defines karma as an unconscious energy that presents us with a choice: allow this energy to be passed on un-processed, or consciously process this energy so that we can light the way towards a more creative, authentic, and evolved future.

EP51 | Rev. angel Kyodo williams | Racial Healing and the Yearning to Be Seen

EP51 | Rev. angel Kyodo williams | Racial Healing and the Yearning to Be Seen

On this episode of Point of Relation, Thomas is joined by author, spiritual teacher, outspoken activist, and the founder of the Center for Transformative Change - Reverend angel Kyodo williams. They discuss the healing power of being seen as your true self, and how this creates the conditions for collective healing.
Rev. angel explores how systems of power and oppression have created divisions in our society and undermined our sense of belonging, especially for Black people and other marginalized groups. But in creating safe spaces that are resilient enough to allow our true selves and feelings to arise, we find relationality through our suffering, and begin to heal these culturally ingrained divisions.
And while this work is neither comfortable nor easy, our increasing willingness to sit with discomfort illustrates our innate desire for liberation and connectedness.

practical heart, science and spirit based hope for these times

I have explored many avenues for hope, healing, justice, peace and respect for nature and each other, and I find Thomas Hubl’s work to be the clearest, kindest and most inspiring. Unlike many social activists’ perspective, no one is “the bad guy” in Thomas’ view; we are all just trauma-infused beings in need of healing. His work offers an all encompassing perspective and steps along that path to healing, as individuals and as members of the collective.
