MDT is a McKenzie Diplomat practicing in Glastonbury, Connecticut. He participated in McKenzie Parts A and B during his clinical rotation at Maccio Physical Therapy in Troy, NY and graduated from Springfield College in 2016 with his doctorate in physical therapy. Brian went on to become McKenzie Certified in 2017, and became a McKenzie Diplomat in 2019 after completing his Diploma training in Austin, TX. He opened his McKenzie Certified clinic in Connecticut in April 2021.     💭” Even if they do heavy, slow resistance training 2 or 3 times a week, I still stick to daily exercise.’’ - Dr. Karin Silbernagel Our guest, Dr. Karin Grävare Silbernagel PT, ATC, PhD is a Professor and Associate Chair at the Department of Physical Therapy, University of Delaware, Newark, DE USA.  She received her Physical Therapy and Athletic Training Degrees from Boston University, her MSc and PhD from University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She has been a physical therapist and athletic trainer for 34 years, worked full-time in sports medicine for 10+ years including semiprofessional sport, performed sports medicine related research for 20+ years, and is actively engaged as a consultant for professional sports organizations both in the United States and abroad. Her expertise is in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal injury with a focus on tendon and ligament injury. At University of Delaware, she is the principal investigator of the Delaware Tendon Research Group and the Delaware ACL Research Group. Her work has been directly integrated into the clinical guidelines for treatment of patients with tendon injuries.     💭’’There is strong evidence that diet can have a significant effect on inflammation, and we know that inflammation is a key factor in disease.’’ -  Dr. Peter Brukner Our guest, Dr. Peter Brukner OAM, MBBS, D Sc(honoris causa), FACSEP, FASMF, FACSM, FFSEM is a specialist sports and exercise physician who is the founding partner of Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre in Melbourne and a Professor of Sports Medicine at LaTrobe University. A founding Executive Member of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians, he served two terms as President and played a key role in establishing sports medicine as a medical specialty in Australia.  Peter is the co-author of the widely used text book Clinical Sports Medicine, now in its 6th edition, and has been team physician for professional football clubs as well as national athletics, swimming, soccer and men’s hockey teams including Olympic and Commonwealth Games. Peter was the Socceroos Team Doctor at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and subsequently became Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science at Liverpool Football Club. He then served as Australian cricket team doctor from 2012-17, and as a consultant to the Melbourne Football Club during their premiership year in 2021.  Peter is the co-founder of the public health campaign SugarByHalf and is committed to the challenge of improving the nation’s health with improved diet and increased physical activity. His best selling book A Fat Lot of Good was published in 2018. Peter is also the Founder and Chair of Defeat Diabetes, an app- and web-based program, aimed at improving diabetes control through diet. In 2022, Peter was awarded a Doctor of Science honoris causa by La Trobe University and delivered the inaugural Peter Brukner Distinguished Lecture. MDT is a physical therapist with 40 years of experience in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), also known as the McKenzie Method. He began training personally with Robin McKenzie in 1984 and continued this direct mentorship until 1992. In 1993, Scott was appointed as a McKenzie Institute instructor and has since taught over 500 continuing education courses in MDT. He has served as senior faculty for the U.S. branch since 2000, where his responsibilities include mentoring new faculty, developing advanced education programs, and presenting at numerous conferences. Scott was also one of the first instructors for the Institute's inaugural stand-alone extremity courses in 2001. Dr. O’Sullivan is internationally recognised as a leading clinician, researcher and educator in musculoskeletal pain disorders. With his team he has developed a novel management approach for people disabling low back pain – called ‘cognitive functional therapy’. This treatment has demonstrated efficacy in numerous clinical trials, including a recent landmark trial published in The Lancet. He leads GLA:D Australia, which aims to improve access to appropriate exercise and education for all Australians with osteoarthritis; and TREK, a project aimed at improving access to knowledge of evidence-based treatments. Dr. Christian is an expert in the management of difficult-to-treat, long-term injuries.
