Episode 52 - When Burnout Becomes Your Catalyst with Guest Erica Olenski Johansen

Episode 52 - When Burnout Becomes Your Catalyst with Guest Erica Olenski Johansen

Erica Olenski Johansen speaks up in Episode 52 about how burnout was the catalyst for change and advocacy for herself and her family. Being careful to balance the needs of herself with the needs of her family, Erica found herself to the arts of various kinds to engage her heart and mind. This passion became August s Artists so that other families experiencing medical traumas have what they need to express themselves in art and share it with one another and the world! A great lesson learned is that art is more naturally occurring when you protect boundaries that you ve set up.

Erica has proven that self-care, advocacy, and servant leadership can not just help heal, but also help inspire and motivate meaningful industry change. After spending a career in healthcare, Erica found herself divorced from an alcoholic and supporting her infant son as his primary caregiver in his brain cancer recovery after being diagnosed at only 5-months-old. Despite the odds, Erica persevered through burnout and depression to become an Ironman in September 2021 and was recognized by the healthcare industry as a leading voice on patient and caregiver advocacy in March 2022. Additionally, as a way to honor her son's experience and give back to families who have had medical trauma impact their lives, Erica is launching a non-profit called August's Artists to provide hospitalized children and their families with access to coloring materials during inpatient hospitalizations and personalized artwork that inspires healing.

Episode 51 - Let Your No be No with Guest Megan Armstrong

Episode 51 - Let Your No be No with Guest Megan Armstrong

In Episode 51, Megan Armstrong joins us to talk about how she s recovered from burnout and reinvented her lifestyle to prevent it from happening again! As a recovering people pleaser, Megan shares the importance of setting boundaries and being resolute to stand steadfast through them. Determining what is best for her, she made new friends and changed her lifestyle. And she mastered a wonderful word no , which she began to use liberally to not do the things that created stress and caused burnout. Thus choosing the best things for her life that created margin for rest and living life to the fullest!

Stuck in perpetual victim mode, Megan thought that life happened to her. She lived her life for her family and friends, needing to be needed, dropping everything at a moment's notice for them. The result was feeling a lot of regret, burnout and wishing she could live life the way that everyone else got to live life.

After awakening Megan realized that everything in life was because of her early childhood subconscious programming. She learned that love looked like pleasing people, fixing others, physical illness and giving all of me. The result: Megan didn t know who she was or how to love herself. The work has been to (re)discover herself, live consciously, redefine her definition of love, and create a fulfilling life.

Episode 50 - One Step Back, Two Steps Forward with Guest Brooke Rozzie

Episode 50 - One Step Back, Two Steps Forward with Guest Brooke Rozzie

In Episode 50, Brooke Rozzi started her career with a young 20-something year old s mindset of wanting to just look good in a bikini and eating just right. After a sudden weight gain during the grieving of her father s death, she began asking why when she was doing all the right things. Feeling like her body was fighting against her, she pursued further education that opened her eyes to show her the importance of a lifestyle change on a microscale. A desire to have her daughter love the skin she s in led Brooke to look for someone to actually educate her about the beauty and complexity of the woman s body.

Sometimes to move forward, you have to take a step back. Paying attention to her body s conversation with her about what felt good and what didn t, when she needed to rest and when she was ready to a workout. Trading a hard workout for a walk in the park or a yoga session, deleting food tracking apps from her phone, and working with her body instead of against it. Breath work and journaling and scaling back intense workouts were ultimately the trifecta of taking better care of her body and her mind.

Brooke is a Functional Nutritionist specializing in Women's health. She is a Mom of two and has been in the health fitness industry for 14 years. After becoming a Mom, and through personal experiences with stress and the impacts it left on her body, she realized how unsupported women are in knowing what their body needs to feel good and how to achieve it to avoid burnout. Today's model is set up with a cyclical diet and exercise pattern, but it isn t set to serve what a Woman's body truly needs to thrive. She works within her coaching to change the narrative on how women approach their health and fitness so they can truly feel good in their skin, ditch the diet and exercise mentality, and live a life that they are feeling really good in.

Episode 49 - Your Body has a Budget with Guest Teresa Lodato

Episode 49 - Your Body has a Budget with Guest Teresa Lodato

In episode 49, we learn more about Teresa Lodato s experience with burnout. The first thing we need to know is that burnout isn t a specific point in time, but is really kind of a slow burn until you hit the breaking point. Next realize that your identity isn t tied up in a title of a role you play in life, because they are really just masks for who you really are without those titles. Then you need to live in alignment with those truths about who you are and the boundaries that allow you to live out of that core identity to fulfill the roles you have. Healthy boundaries, forgiveness, recognizing capacity to handle and letting go those things that you can t and doing all of that with acceptance and not holding grudges against people or your own body and mind are critical to living in a spirit of freedom and joy and gratitude. Doing all of of these things, living inside your body s budget, is a wonderful way to not end up burned out and exhausted on a regular cycle.

Episode 48 - It's an Every Day Transformation with Guest Bruce Sanchez

Episode 48 - It's an Every Day Transformation with Guest Bruce Sanchez

Episode 48 is where Bruce Sanchez will explain why recovery isn t enough, what we really need is transformation. 20 years ago, being stuck in a cycle of addiction and finding himself in a safe place to heal from those addictions, Bruce recognized his first transformation in life. It would be some years later before he experienced his first panic attack while working as a guard in a prison, the last place on earth you want to be having a panic attack. While he didn t see the signs of stress, because his body was in great health, his mind did. After tests and going through the motions to try and get better, he began to understand better how the subconcious works either for or against your emotional state. Maintaining routine, healthy exercises for the body and mind, honoring your own limitations, and other great practices are what helped Bruce get through to the other side not just recovered from a particular burnout, but transformed daily in his subconscious to prevent from every going back there again.

Bruce is an International Psych-K Facilitator, High-Performance Coach, NLP Mindfulness Master practitioner former Correctional Officer, and a member of the S.O.G. (Special Operations Group) prison in Melbourne, and former International Krav Maga Instructor Black Belt III DAN.You can connect more with Bruce Sanchez here :https://www.facebook.com/coachbrucesanchez/
