    70. Doing Pilates with Chronic Pain

If you have chronic pain, Pilates will definitely help you. But, sometimes if you're not modifying things properly, doing too much too soon, or are doing exercises that are contra-indicated for your specific issues, it can make things worse.

If you've ever had a trainer or teacher tell you that working through acute pain is part of the process, or that you shouldn't worry about it, you'll get some actionable advice in this episode.

    67. Keep It Simple

I have spent much of my life overcomplicating the simple, and I see many other people doing the same thing, especially when it comes to personal health and fitness, as well as teaching Pilates or fitness. Today I discuss why simple is best, and where to start.

    66. On Sacroiliac Joint Instability

    66. On Sacroiliac Joint Instability

Another issue that gets brought up often among Pilates teachers is Sacroiliac Joint Instability. The issue here is that what your clients with SI instability feel like they want is often very different from what they need, which is more work on stability and less stretching.

Today I review the anatomy of the SI Joint, why instability happens, how the symptoms can mimic other back issues (so a medical diagnosis is important), and what to do about it. Hopefully this will help you and your clients!

    65. About Tight Hip Flexors

    65. About Tight Hip Flexors

I see tight hip flexors coming up in Pilates Teacher forums at least 2-3x every week. Even more concerning, I see people offering deep stretches and corrections that I know from experience can hurt more than help.

Let's deep dive into the hip flexors - what they are, where they are, and what they do. Learn why hip flexors get tight, and what exactly to avoid and do to help you and your clients feel and function at their best.

Have Conversations With Your Colleagues

I’ve been a Pilates Teacher for over 34 years.
These days, I do a lot of teaching over Zoom,
which I like, but I do miss the pleasure of talking and interacting with my colleagues,
and the interesting conversations that arise
between professional Pilates & Movement Teachers. Listening to Lynda Lippin on Tuesdays & Thursdays is filling that gap.
Lynda discusses interesting topics and I appreciate that she has a style that is unifying rather than dividing and is welcoming to teachers from many different paths. I look forward to these podcasts and
I encourage you to listen to them as well!

Wonderful & In-Depth

I love this podcast! Appropriate for both teachers and practitioners. Her information is insightful and science-based. Nice chunks to think about but not too long that it gets lost within a ton of dialogue. I really appreciate Lynda and all her knowledge and experience!

Organic

I love the fact that Lynda’s conversations are just that, unrehearsed, and as they happen. All sides encouraged to speak their truth.
