The Seeker and The Skeptic is a podcast in which two friends explore esoteric, paranormal and spiritual topics from two completely different perspectives.

Cat is The Seeker, she’s interested in spiritual ideas and hopes to find something meaningful and empowering in the wisdom of religion and new age philosophy. Rebecca is The Skeptic, she’s passionate about finding truth (or at least getting closer to it) using the tools of reason and evidence.

Though our approaches to life and ideas are very different we share a sense of humour and a commitment to talking honestly about what we believe and why, which is why we started this podcast. In each episode we will discuss a different topic or experience we’ve had from Holotropic Breathing to Mediumship and we’ll see if we can learn something from each other or change each other’s minds… or if our conversation will devolve into a good natured slanging match.

Whatever happens we think having these conversations will be enlightening and amusing and after we finish recording we’ll be pouring ourselves a drink and planning our next adventure.

    Lucid Dreaming

    Lucid Dreaming

Would you give up a good night’s sleep for the promise of flying, sexual adventures and a glimpse into the collective unconscious? If so, you might want to try lucid dreaming. Sleep deprived and waxing philosophical about free will, consciousness and morphic resonance. In this episode we talk about the Richard Linklater film Waking Life [...]

Merry Christmas listeners! In this minisode we answer the controversial question: Would you tell your (hypothetical) kids that Santa is real? We’ve both dipped into the salty depths on more than one occasion, if [...]

Ayahuasca - Great Job!!

I have listened to hundreds of podcast episodes across many shows and have, until now, never been compelled to actually write a review.Your Ayahuasca episode was brilliant. It was so even-handed, level-headed, and thoughtful.
I am a fan of the medicine, but do have a lot of reservations about how it is being taken up by people. Many are just all-in, in the new-age space, with all things “woo”. I think a lot of time and energy will be wasted going down blind alleys. I think there is much that is of use here, but it is a mistake to throw all science out the window.
You two did a great job describing the known benefits and risks, as well as the unknowns. Ayahuasca will definitely be worth exploring for many people. But it is not for everyone. Those going in should keep their eyes open and their critical thinking skills polished.
Thank you

Cannot Get Enough

Completely refreshing. Both lucid and esoteric ideas and experiences discussed with balance and humor. Cat and Rebecca embody two genuine friends - despite polarizing points of view - who can intelligently and respectfully come to logical conclusions AND leave unanswerable questions on the table. Well researched and authentic dialogue. We could all learn a lesson: These two have taken all my biscuits. As an American, that should say everything. My ONLY critique of the podcast is that it is only released once a month. I need more. Much more.

Feeling disrespected

The way they talk about Wicca, my religion, is very disrespectful and makes me feel terrible. Came to the episode to learn more, left discouraged.
