    217. How To Fall In Love With Selling

    217. How To Fall In Love With Selling

So, this episode addresses the quiet fear a lot of newer coaches (or let’s be honest… veteran coaches like me) sometimes feel when we enroll a new client or roll out a new offer. What’s that fear? What if I won’t be able to deliver? What if I can’t actually help this client the way they want me to? That was the fear holding today’s guest back from actively selling.

Betsy Seybolt is a coach who believes that mindset is everything and she works to help you find time for yourself and stop your negative thinking.

And even though she's a pro at helping others overcome negative thinking, she had some of her own worries to work through during our conversation. You see, though Betsy has a ton of life experience, her coaching business is pretty new and she hasn’t worked with paying clients yet. So a part of Betsy worried that she would not be able to serve her clients fully once they hired her. And it’s really difficult to sell coaching if you don’t quite believe in it. But Betsy has so much evidence in her life to prove that she is capable of holding a coaching container that can indeed deliver.  She just needed a new perspective, which is exactly what we worked toward during our conversation.

I want to tell that you that about two weeks after we recorded, our friend Betsy signed a client. So something definitely shifted from our conversation. And I hope you experience a shift as well. If you ever worry you don’t have what it takes, this episode is for you.

    216. How To Step Back From Your Business

    216. How To Step Back From Your Business

Have you ever just needed to take a break from your business? Whether it’s health issues, a big move to another city, furthering your education or just family stuff, sometimes, life might require you to put your coaching business on the back burner. My guest today is Briana Wyatt who guides ambitious professionals to live more bravely, EMBOLDENED by self-trust, self-love and sacred power. Briana has been going through some major life shifts that require her to step back from her business. And though she knows a sabbatical is in order, she’s worried about feeling like she has to start again from scratch when she is ready to return to her business.

So, the two of us talked through a process she can use to take a break while ensuring her business still has a pulse. Here’s the process we went through together:

Understand the two seasons every business flows between
Paint a clear picture of what a sabbatical looks + feels like
Identify any obstacles that might prevent that picture from becoming reality
Clarify success metrics to manage the obstacles

Outline small and measurable actions to balance time off with time connected to the business

    Key Takeaways

Normalize Sabbaticals in Entrepreneurship: It's essential to understand that periods of containment and rest are natural and necessary for long-term growth and sustainability, but it doesn't mean losing progress
Creation Without Pressure: Embrace the process of creating and working on projects for the sake of personal fulfillment and growth, rather than immediate business results
Maintain Agency and Flexibility: Set small, attainable goals that align with your values and provide a sense of daily or weekly achievement without overwhelming pressure
Define Personal Success Metrics: Establish clear, personalized metrics to measure success during a sabbatical
Maintain Community and Connection: Engage in activities that foster community and connection without the intent of client attraction

    215. Is Your Marketing Message Honest Enough?

    215. Is Your Marketing Message Honest Enough?

So part of building a business you’re proud of is giving yourself permission to take an authentic stance about your work and the path your dream clients walk down. Sometimes taking a firm stance feels easy and inspiring. Other times… it’s tricky.

What is it I really want to say?
    Will people even get it?
And if they do, will they get it enough to want to hire me?

Those were the questions my guest, Angela Beeching, brought to the conversation today. Angela helps musicians get more of their best work out into the world so they can become the artists they are meant to be. She’s worked as a coach for many years and over that time, her confidence, her methodology, and her motivation has evolved. But Angela’s marketing message hasn’t completely kept up with that evolution. So we put our heads together today to help Angela lean into her stance and identify the message underneath Angela’s message. If you’d like to bring a little more bravery to your marketing, this episode is for you.

    212. Does Your Niche Have to Match Your Purpose?

    212. Does Your Niche Have to Match Your Purpose?

My guest today is Matt Winters who recently changed his niche away from helping gay men go from feeling stuck and lonely to having the authentic connections they want in all areas of life. Now, Matt plans to leverage a career full of experience toI help leaders relate to people as humans instead of as simply resources.

Matt came to the conversation feeling conflicted and murky.

Was he taking the easy road and neglecting truly meaningful work?
What does it say about him if abandons a community of people he cares about?
And is he even sure that his new niche is a viable one?

So many questions muddied the waters that caused Matt to just feel stuck. The two of us started by just questioning the idea that if you are indeed values driven, every aspect of your work must be filled to the brim with purpose. From there, we just explored Matt’s new niche and addressed each fear he had around it.

Then, we wrapped things up by identifying three clear steps Matt can take to complete some marketing research and start bringing in new clients. Matt showed up with so much authenticity and care throughout the episode. You’ll hear it right away. And as coaches, there’s nothing better than working with an open hearted, truly coachable client, which was 100% Matt. By the end of our conversation, I think we both felt grounded and clear about how purpose and meaning show up everywhere when you are a person who cares about purpose and meaning.

    Key Takeaways:

    Alignment over Palatability
    Refine Your Deep Niche
    Target Ready Clients

Great for all levels of coaches

I found Dallas when I was looking for advice for new coaches. There is plenty on the internet about how to scale, but not a lot when you’re just starting out. A business course I had taken before assumed I already had an audience. I was so confused and feeling a bit hopeless. This podcast gave me a lot of confidence. I needed to just start and figure out some things. Then I worked with Dallas in Client Surge. She’s as tough, caring, and honest as she is on the podcast. Whenever I need a pick-me-up an episode of the podcast seems to turn me around. I’ve shared so many episodes with fellow coaches who are just starting out.
