    Why 80/20 Is BS

We're tackling a BIG myth that's been holding you back: the whole "80/20" thing when it comes to eating. You know, eat healthy 80% of the time, and go wild the other 20%. Sounds dreamy, right? Here's the kicker---it doesn't work. Not for lasting weight loss, anyway. We've all been there, telling ourselves we're "mostly" healthy, but let's face it---80/20 often turns into 60/40 (if we're being honest). And that's not enough to move the needle, especially if you're in your 30s, 40s, or 50s. Why? Because it doesn't give you the momentum you need to see results. Losing weight isn't just about balance; it's about creating habits that work with your body instead of against it. In this episode, I'm spilling the tea on why 80/20 doesn't deliver the goods and how shifting to something more realistic, like 95/5 or even 98/2, can totally transform your journey. Here's the secret: it's not deprivation---it's about resetting your taste buds and hormones so your body actually craves the good stuff (yes, seriously). We'll chat about why blood sugar spikes and "hanger" are your worst enemies and how those Saturday night pizza binges might be sabotaging your progress. Plus, I'll give you a sneak peek at my Yummy Mummy Method---a no-calorie-counting, no-BS approach to losing weight for the LAST time. Because you deserve to feel energized, confident, and oh-so-happy in your own skin. Let's ditch the 80/20 trap and create a plan that actually works, babe. Hit play and hear: How the 80/20 rule sabotages weight lossWhy being honest about your habits is the first step to successHow a balanced approach like 95/5 creates lasting changeSpecifically how to make "healthy" feel satisfying and naturalThe two things to manage to help you create an easy, sustainable lifestyleIf you're curious how to actually ditch 80/20 and try it yourself with a plan of action, Yummy Mummy has got you, girl. What If I Told You Being Nice is Slowing Down Your Weight Loss?

Get ready, because we’re diving into something that might surprise you: how being “nice” and people-pleasing could be slowing down your weight loss journey. Yup, I said it! Being too nice can add literal weight to your body. In this episode, I’ll walk you through how to fix that! We talk about those sneaky situations where you say “yes” to the second glass of wine or the bread basket because you don’t want to rock the boat. Or when you feel guilty saying “no” to dessert because, OMG, what will people think? Girl, I’ve been there—and I know how exhausting it is.  The truth is, every time we people-please with food, we abandon ourselves and our goals.  Learning to say “no, thank you” is like a superpower. It doesn’t make you a bad person – in fact, it’s the ultimate act of self-care. You don’t need to explain yourself, and honestly, most people won’t even care!  We also dig into another way being “nice” shows up: overscheduling yourself. If your calendar is all about making other people happy and you’re nowhere to be found on it, it’s time for a cancellation tour! You’ve got to put YOU first to show up as the best version of yourself.  Get ready to practice saying no, reclaim your time, and fill your cup in ways that actually serve you. It’s time to break free, babe—you’ve got this! Listen in and hear more about: Why people-pleasing with food adds more than just guilt—it adds pounds, tooHow saying “no, thank you” can strengthen your self-trust and honor your goalsWhy being too “nice” on your calendar is a recipe for stress and pantry raidsHow a cancellation tour can open up space for rest, joy, and true self-careWhy guilt isn’t always yours to carry—and how to hand it back to culture Busy moms need something different when it comes to weight loss. And that’s why I’m so excited for the Yummy Mummy 3-step plan to lose weight WITHOUT calorie counting! This offer is now available for only $37. Why Calorie Counting Isn't the Key to Weight Loss

In this episode, we're spilling the tea on a topic that had me stuck for years: calorie counting.  If you've ever spent hours tracking every bite in a fancy app, only to feel frustrated when the weight keeps coming back, I feel you---and I've got good news. Counting calories feels like it should work (and hey, it might for a hot second), but it's actually sabotaging your long-term success. Today, I'm breaking down why the old-school "eat less, move more" mantra doesn't hold up and how it leads to cycles of over-restriction, binging, and burnout. Trust me, you're not failing the diet---it's failing you! I'm sharing the real game-changers: balancing your hunger hormones and embracing healthy restriction. No more 1,200-calorie days that leave you white-knuckling it through life. Instead, let's nourish your body, feel full, and lose weight for the last time. We also talk about how to stop the yo-yo dieting madness and start living in a way that actually feels good. Because who wants to be chained to a scale or an app forever? It's time to stop working against your body and start working with it. So grab your headphones, hit play on this episode, and you'll understand:  How the over-restrict and binge cycle keeps you stuck---and what to do insteadWhy balancing hunger hormones is the secret sauce to effortless weight lossHow healthy restriction can feel freeing instead of punishingWhy calorie counting doesn't deliver the permanent results you're looking forHow you can nourish your body and still see the scale move in the right direction OMG, you guys! I am so excited because our three-step plan to lose weight WITHOUT calorie counting is finally live. There's a masterclass, the actual plan that you will get and create, and then there is accountability. And we're offering it for only $37. So go to lauraconley.com/calorie to get your plan today! Here is Why You Can’t Hate Yourself Skinny with Melissa Parsons

In this episode, we’re talking all about the pitfalls of trying to hate ourselves into a “better” body. Spoiler: it doesn’t work! My lovely guest, Melissa Parsons, a fabulous life coach and former pediatrician, joins us to share why self-love—not self-punishment—is the real key to happiness and lasting transformation.  Melissa opens up about her journey, sharing how years of self-criticism never led to real joy or confidence. Instead, she learned that the secret sauce to becoming your “favorite you” isn’t forcing yourself to fit a certain mold. She says that focusing on small acts of kindness for yourself (like giving yourself five guilt-free minutes to unwind) is the foundation for true change. We dive into why it’s so important to stop “burning ourselves to keep others warm.” For so many of us, it’s all about pleasing others, even if it means ignoring our own needs. But Melissa reminds us that putting yourself on the list—yes, YOU!—isn’t selfish; it’s actually the most caring thing you can do. When we’re filled up, we show up as better friends, partners, and moms. Tune in to today’s episode to learn all about:  How the “fill your own cup first” mindset makes you better at showing up for othersWhy putting others first isn’t always as caring as it seems—and what to do insteadHow shifting from self-criticism to self-kindness could help you reach your goals, without the burnoutWhy carving out five peaceful minutes for yourself each day is more impactful than you might think And by the way, mama: if you want to stop the hate AND lose weight, it’s a thousand percent possible for you. Let’s have a chat. My calendar is open for a call where you can ask any and all questions you want about the Yummy Mummy Experience. How I Accidentally Figured Out The Secret to Weight Loss

Hey babes! We're diving into a topic that I think is such a game-changer when it comes to weight loss.  So, let me take you back 10 years---imagine me, totally nailing my diet Monday through Thursday, only to lose control every weekend. I'd drop two pounds by Thursday, then gain it right back by Monday. Sound familiar? It wasn't until I looked at my pattern (and trust me, I had 15 years of it!) that I realized something critical: the typical "80-20" rule just didn't cut it for me. And doing 98-2? Ugh, it felt like zero fun, which is basically against my life philosophy!  I needed a new way to fill my "pleasure cup" that didn't involve food. That led me on a journey to find true pleasures -- things that light me up during and after, like taking walks with friends, going to yoga, or having a dance party with my team.  One of the best parts of this discovery?  I learned how to build a life filled with "delicious dopamine" that doesn't rely on cupcakes or cocktails. This type of true pleasure is sustainable and way more satisfying than temporary food highs.  But how do we start filling our days with things that bring us joy so we can finally lose weight for the last time? Listen in and learn more about: How to break the cycle of dieting and overeatingWhy "80-20" doesn't work for everyone and what to do insteadWhat will finally stop those late-night pantry raids  And by the way, mama: if you're ready to learn how to consistently build more joy into your life and stop compensating with food, let's have a chat. Why We’re Boredom Eaters and How to Stop

Hey, friends! I am SO excited to be here in my “bougie” Halloween tee – it’s a ghost with a Stanley mug and fanny pack – the works!  In today’s episode, we’re tackling the ultimate roadblock for so many of us: boredom eating (or as I like to call it, pantry pacing). Whether it’s boredom, procrastination, or just plain habit, we're diving into why we eat out of boredom and the best strategies to break free. Do you ever find yourself randomly fridge-gazing in the middle of the day? I totally get it! We’ll explore how to spot those cues and the differences between actual hunger and "I’d rather be eating than tackling my to-do list." Plus, as a special treat, I reached out to my Yummy Mummy program clients to share their “before” stories as boredom eaters and their “after” success stories! We’ll get into their tips about how they curb boredom without derailing their goals – and you can, too. And hey… sometimes boredom eating is just procrastination in a really good costume. So I’m sharing about tools and tricks to stop putting things off – whether it’s a snack or that 8-minute task that’s been haunting you for weeks. Check out today’s episode to hear all about how to: Get honest with yourself about whether you’re eating for fuel or as a mental break, and explore other ways to rechargeFind healthier "band-aid" alternatives to curb unnecessary snacking while working on deeper hunger awarenessShift your entertainment focus from food to fulfilling social connections or creative hobbiesEstablish a clear daily schedule that prioritizes rest and pleasure first, reducing the urge to snack from stress or fatigue Oh and mama, here’s one last thing: if you’re ready to explore the mindset work that goes into creating weight loss that lasts, let’s have a chat. All Things Ozempic

Hey, lovely! This episode, we’re diving headfirst into the big, juicy topic that everyone seems to be whispering about lately: Ozempic, GLP-1s, and weight loss meds.  You’ve probably heard about Ozempic everywhere — at happy hours, in friend circles, maybe even in your own conversations. If you’ve been curious about whether these meds are a miracle fix or just another trend, spoiler: It's not a "yes" or "no" answer! And if you’re anything like me, you want a clear perspective and space to form your own thoughts about it, right? So let’s talk about it. Like any tool, it has its pros and cons. You might have heard it being called a “magic pill,” but the truth is, these meds can be helpful for some and tricky for others. They’re not a root solution, and pairing them with lifestyle work like what I teach in the Yummy Mummy Experience is key. My hope is that by the end of this episode, you’ll have a fresh perspective on whether this path resonates with you or not. Finding true confidence and self-love comes with a reminder: there’s no “right” path, just the one that brings you closer to living as your best self. You deserve to weigh what feels right for you — with or without meds. Tune in to hear more about: My stance on Ozempic and weight loss medsWhy healing emotionally is crucial to lasting weight lossTools that can help you create deep healing and build emotional resilienceThe importance of dropping guilt, judgment, or shame whether you use weight loss medications or notStories of clients who tried Ozempic but ultimately chose lifestyle change as their main strategy And mama, here’s one last thing: if you’re ready to explore the mindset work that goes into creating weight loss that lasts, let’s have a chat.
