Strange Behavior (Dead Kids)

We end Horrortober VI: Down Under with part slasher, part mad scientist romp that is all horror: Strange Behavior. Starring Dan Shor and Michael Murphy, it follows the two as they attempt to discover why children in their small Illinois town turn up dead, having been murdered by an unknown assailant who may actually be a mad scientist. At times, it's a mashup, a sendup, but through and through a unique joint venture between New Zealand, Australia, and the States. While I may not be a Gen-Zer, I can most definitely get down with their brand of horror, especially if Backrooms is any indication of the quality and concept of their take on the genre. Contrast that with a "horror"-comedy franchise that's returned from a long justified and much needed absence in Scary Movie, and that makes for a hell of a double feature or at least two very apropo weekends at the cinema. O-Bi, O-Ba - The End of Civilization

We continue the annual Mike White March celebration with an uplifting tale of society post-collapse who is being gaslighted into believing they have a chance at surviving in O-Bi, O-Ba - The End of Civilization. Written by Polish writer/director Piotr Szulkin, it follows Soft; a man tasked with keeping society together through convincing them they have a chance to surviving the nuclear winter. It's a bleak, often depressing look at a post-apocalyptic society that hits way too close to home at a time like this. The Projection Booth's Mike White and The One Season Show's Jess Byard join Chris to talk about the movie, the usage of style, and other apocalyptic cinema. The Nun

The Nun is the latest film in the Conjuring Universe coming hot on the heels of last year's Annabelle: Creation, this time with Taissa Farmiga and Demian Bichir as a nun and priest, tasked with taking investigating the demonic titular villain. They travel to Romania to stop Valak who has been set free from her bonds due to the bombings of WWII and is hell-bent on escaping the monastery by any means necessary. Michael Wallace joins Chris and Eric to discuss the film while Bonnie Aarons (Valak) is interviewed about her role as in The Nun and The Conjuring 2. The Other

Skinamarink

We take a break from Indian Cinema Month to take a look at a lo-fi horror film that took 2022 social media by storm: Skinamarink. Focused on two children whose dad disappears on the same evening the doors and windows in their house suddenly vanish as well.
