    In this last episode of the semester, I sit down with Ross Basham and discuss his recent diagnosis of adductor spasmodic dysphonia. In our conversation, we discuss the anatomy of the larynx, innervation of the muscles that control the vocal folds, symptoms of dysphonia, the process of diagnosis, and treatment options. Enjoy!

    Midline Urachal Defect with Amelia

    Today's episode is a conversation with an M2 at the School of Medicine who was born with an issue that likely arose around the third week of their embryonic development but was not properly diagnosed or treated until adulthood. In this critical period of development, the allantois (eventually hollowed out and called the urachus) makes contact with the umbilicus on one end and the developing bladder on the other. The bladder arises from the vesicle part of the urogenital sinus, whose other parts (pelvic and phallic) eventually become the lowest parts of the urinary tract. In this conversation, we explore some of the details of urinary system development and get insight into the process of Amelia's diagnosis.

    In this episode, I sat down with M2 and Louisville native Ryan Jacobs to discuss congenital talipes equinovarus, otherwise known as clubfoot. Ryan was born with fairly severe unilateral clubfoot and we dive in to the anatomy of the condition, details of his treatment, and the impact that the diagnosis has on his adult life.

    Today we are talking about twinning and it's only fitting that there are double the guests on this episode! One guest, Kennedy Breeding, is a fraternal twin and the other, Cole Dowdy, is an identical twin. In the episode, each of them shares their experience being a twin and we discuss dizygotic vs. monozygotic twinning as well as risks associated with each.
