Yeti Walks Into Basecamp | Talking. Thru. Hiking.

Wesley "Yeti Legs" and Marie "Basecamp" Black

Join us, Wesley "Yeti Legs" and Marie "Basecamp" Black on the YETI WALKS INTO BASECAMP: Talking. Thru. Hiking. Podcast, where we discuss all things in the wonderful world of hiking. Each episode will cover various hiking topics, the 181 days we spent on the PCT, interviews with fellow hikers/trail angels, or even chats with gear junkies. We are a married couple who love hiking and ultra running. In 2022, we sold everything to hike the Pacific Crest Trail with a continuous footpath, followed by completing the TMB. Since then, we've hiked even more long trails. Welcome!

E96 | The ‘Steve Irwin’ Of Today | Part 1 | w/ Erik Molvar of Western Watersheds Project

In This Episode- Fighting for conservation policies that you believe in (or don't believe in) is a part of your right/duty as hikers in the U.S. and abroad. I'm talking about our wild spaces, those beautiful and rugged places that we seek out for joy, solace, or even food to feed our families. This is the first part of our chat with Erik Molvar (Executive Director) of the Western Watersheds Project (WWP). We cover a lot of ground including an introduction to who Erik is, all that he has accomplished in the 10,000 miles that he’s hiked (including the books he’s written about his hikes), and his work with the WWP.  We also delve into the challenges we are facing in the fight to protect our public lands, the crossroads of traditional ecological knowledge, dominionism, and kin-centrism, and wrap on the topic of wolf conservation. Thanks, Erik, for taking the time to discuss how we are standing up for what we/you believe in, and protecting our wild spaces.
