Developing Machine Learning and Deep Learning Models @MIT, Enhancing Decision Making in Healthcare & Employing Multimodality
In this episode we sit down with Léonard Boussioux who is an incoming professor at the University of Washington in the Information Systems and Operations Management department. He was a Ph.D. candidate in Operations Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and has developed and deployed machine learning and deep learning models to address high-stake challenges, including healthcare operations, pollution management, hurricane forecasting, and ecosystem preservation.
We discuss how Léonard decided to pursue advanced mathematics and physics in university, his new focus of developing predictive and prescriptive methods to enhance decision-making in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and climate, and the data he deals with across these sectors. We also go over the significance of multimodality in order to maximize potential from data sources.
Here are his 3 action items:
1. Try to have a positive outlook on life.
2. Surround yourself with positive people, and be part of different teams.
3. Be curious and have gratitude for what you receive.
