    Feast of the Visitation

Celebrated May 31, the Feast of the Visitation is a Christian holiday commemorating the Virgin Mary’s visit to her pregnant cousin, Elizabeth. As described in the Gospel of Luke (1:39-56), this joyful meeting highlights two miraculous pregnancies and includes Mary reciting the Magnificat (a beautiful prayer praising God). The Magnificat is a hymn, also known as the Canticle of Mary. Its name comes from the incipit of the Latin version of the text taken from the Gospel of Luke where it is spoken by Mary upon the occasion of her Visitation to her cousin Elizabeth. In the narrative, after Mary greets Elizabeth, who is pregnant with John the Baptist, the latter moves within Elizabeth's womb. Elizabeth praises Mary for her faith using words partially reflected in the Hail Mary prayer, and Mary responds with what is now known as the Magnificat, one of the eight most ancient Christian hymns and perhaps the earliest Marian hymn. 313. Joan of Arc

Worldwide religious connections to Joan of Arc (1412-31) span across literature, monuments, and wartime campaigns. The inspired Christian heroine has deeply influenced many cultures and her legacy as a symbol of faith, language, and cultural resilience remains a strong historical thread with connections deeply rooted in cultural identity, spanning monumental art, religious architecture, and media. Although Saint Joan is a distinctly 15th-century icon, her archetype of the young, spiritual, and rebellious warrior has also deeply influenced international Christianity, history and folklore. Her annual Feast Day is May 30. 6. Parable of the Two Sons

    Parable of the Two Sons

In the Gospel of Matthew (21:28-32), a father asks his two sons to work in his vineyard. The first son initially refuses but later changes his mind and works. The second son agrees to work but then doesn't. The father's will is done by the first son, who repents and obeys, while the second son, who makes a false commitment, doesn't fulfill it. This parable is used by Jesus to illustrate the difference between hypocrisy and genuine obedience, suggesting that tax collectors and prostitutes might enter the Kingdom of God before those who outwardly profess obedience but lack genuine repentance.
