Instinct & Meta Muse Are AI Agents That Can Run Your Life. We Let One Try.

AI news this week: Personal AI agents like Instinct and Meta's Muse now book your repairs, make your calls and talk to other agents. We let one into our life. On today's AI For Humans, Kevin Pereira and Gavin Purcell dig into the week personal AI agents got real. Gavin has been living with Instinct, the viral assistant that just raised a ton on money while still in private testing. It works over text, WhatsApp and now actual phone calls, people are using it to schedule dryer repairs, and this week a stranger's Instinct asked to talk to Gavin's Instinct. It also handed out Kevin's personal info by default because it was a lil over-eager, which is where Kevin's finger wag (and the terms of service) come in. Then there's Muse, Meta's new personal agent that lives in its own app and inside WhatsApp, how it's different from OpenClaw, and the rumors that OpenAI's version is close. Also: everyone suddenly wants to slow AI down. Dario Amodei published "We Must Pace the Frontier," Sam Altman said he agrees, Demis Hassabis said it points to the right path, Elon Musk said "Dario is right," and the White House is not on board. We try to make sense of why this is happening now (recursive self-improvement, the Hugging Face incident, and Sam talking up an unreleased model that's crushing math) and what it means for you. OpenAI also shared a new framework for publicly reporting model misalignment. Plus: Jev from TypeSafe AI is a new sort of model. It's not a chatbot. It makes fast typed decisions in 70 to 500 milliseconds, which means it can play Doom and Mario in real time, trade stocks, fly a drone and power a lil game called Jev Hero. And in AI See What You Did There: Claude Opus 5 makes really cool JavaScript animations (Gavin tried it too), the AI Seinfeld videos are getting good, and MiniMax nails micro expressions. MY AI WILL CALL YOUR AI. PLEASE DON'T GIVE IT MY SOCIAL. // Show Links // Instinct https://instinct.com/ TechCrunch: Instinct's AI assistant is raising privacy and security concerns https://techcrunch.com/2026/08/24/instincts-powerful-ai-assistant-is-raising-privacy-and-security-concerns/ Gavin's Instinct experience, continued https://x.com/gavinpurcell/status/2100016746631721459 Instinct scheduled a dryer repair https://x.com/eliweisss/status/2098918455957189107 Instinct can now handle phone calls https://x.com/noahrshinn/status/2100262985491231101 Meta introduces Muse, its personal AI agent https://about.fb.com/news/2026/09/introducing-muse-personal-ai-agent/ Sam Altman's tease (OpenAI's version is a rumor, not confirmed) https://x.com/sama/status/2100351958167220547 Sam Altman on the unreleased model beating all the math https://x.com/rohanpaul_ai/status/2100144714251198466 Dario Amodei: We Must Pace the Frontier https://darioamodei.com/post/we-must-pace-the-frontier Sam Altman agrees with Dario https://x.com/sama/status/2098811563415150910 Demis Hassabis on pacing the frontier https://x.com/demishassabis/status/2098909516582490602 Elon Musk at the All-In Summit https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2099737765260763348 OpenAI's framework for reporting model misalignment https://openai.com/index/model-misalignment-reporting-framework/ Kim's New Book: Write a Novel in 100 Days https://kimpurcell.com/ TypeSafe AI introduces System One models and Jev https://typesafe.ai/blog/introducing-system-one-models-and-jev https://x.com/CompleteSkeptic/status/2099925682726002904 Jev plays Doom in real time https://x.com/CompleteSkeptic/status/2099925687465570372 Jev plays Mario https://x.com/faadilhshaik/status/2100086301894881578 Jev as a real-time stock buyer and seller https://x.com/jarrodwatts/status/2100356151468585346 Jev organizing and filtering types of words (with demo) https://x.com/stevekrouse/status/2100287368221659289 https://typesafe-demo.val.run/ Jev drone traversal https://x.com/EGafni/status/2100386169100149229 Jev Hero https://jevhero.val.run/ Pause Gate, told through fruit https://x.com/charliebcurran/status/2099981045655556370 Claudio of Anthropos https://x.com/arikuschnir/status/2100555376856830381 Claude Opus 5 makes really cool JavaScript animations https://x.com/kevin_t_ngo/status/2099858454043349342 Gavin's Claude takes a shot at it https://x.com/gavinpurcell/status/2100404534514536955 The AI Seinfeld videos are getting good https://x.com/rydudebro/status/2100055497751646320 MiniMax micro expressions https://x.com/SD_Tutorial/status/2097966014239781051   // Join the AI For Humans community // Join the AI For Humans Discord https://discord.gg/muD2TYgC8f Support AI For Humans on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/AIForHumansShow Subscribe to the AI For Humans newsletter https://aiforhumans.beehiiv.com/ Follow AI For Humans on X: @AIForHumansShow https://x.com/AIForHumansShow Follow AI For Humans on TikTok: @aiforhumansshow https://www.tiktok.com/@aiforhumansshow Speaking and booking https://www.aiforhumans.show/

GPT-6 Astra Does Everything. Here's What It's Actually Good At.

AI news this week: GPT-6 Astra is here and it does everything. We spent a week inside it (Blender, GarageBand, a full live game) to find out what it's actually great at. On today's AI For Humans, Kevin Pereira and Gavin Purcell go hands-on with OpenAI's Astra, aka GPT-6, and it's real good (and real expensive). The headline for us is computer use, and specifically Blender: Astra builds 3D scenes from a sentence, and the internet is already making Backrooms worlds, a hyper-real Palace of Fine Arts, and the Billie Jean dance. Gavin ran his own experiments, including a Parappa The Rapper style animation and a head-to-head with GPT 5.6. Plus: Astra identifying sounds from spectrograms, driving MS Paint and Canva, editing a full project, playing Zork as a walk-around game, remaking Paperboy in 3D, editing Super Nintendo games in real time, making music in Logic, and a League of Legends "cease and desist edition" that raises the big question of how copyright even keeps up with this. Also: the OpenAI Navier-Stokes math drama. NYU's Tristan Buckmaster and Anthropic's Levent Alpöge used AI to make a real advance on a 200-year-old fluid problem, and then, according to Buckmaster, OpenAI raced in with a 100-page proof of the same route and things got very ugly over credit. When your AI collaborator's lab can see what you're close to, who owns the idea? Plus: Gavin built King of the Prompts, a live competitive prompting game made with Astra and MiniMax H3 Max, and he'll tell you what it is, why he made it, and what it costs to run. And an AI See What You Did There with Skyrim: Senior Living, AI Denzel Washington delivering maybe the best AI video ever made, and a fruit fly brain that learned the YMCA (and lost the ability to love). WE'RE DEEP IN THE ASTRA JUICE. SEND HELP (AND TOKENS). // Chapters //   00:00 GPT-6 Astra Is Real Good (And Real Expensive) 03:35 What Astra Is Actually Good At: Computer Use 06:15 Astra In Blender: Backrooms, Palace Of Fine Arts & Billie Jean 10:57 Astra Remakes Paperboy & Will People Play AI Games? 16:20 Astra Makes Music In Logic (And Simulates A DJ Stage) 19:40 Kevin's Existential Crisis Of App Release 22:50 The OpenAI Navier-Stokes Drama: Who Owns An AI-Assisted Proof? 27:59 Gavin Built King Of The Prompts (Astra + MiniMax H3 Max) 35:15 AI See What You Did There: Skyrim Senior Living, AI Denzel & FLY-M-C-A   // Show Links // OpenAI introduces GPT-6 Astra https://openai.com/index/gpt-6-astra/ Duncan Trussell's Backrooms in Blender (the whole thread is great) https://x.com/duncantrussell/status/2096003511104508411 Hyper-realistic Palace of Fine Arts in Blender https://x.com/sharifshameem/status/2095653641164329143 Recreating the Billie Jean dance in Blender https://x.com/flavioAd/status/2097067419248296389 Gavin's Parappa The Rapper style animation https://x.com/gavinpurcell/status/2096454789328752682 Gavin: Astra builds a scene from scratch vs GPT 5.6 https://x.com/gavinpurcell/status/2096234912441626724 Astra identifies sounds from spectrograms https://x.com/maxxrubin_/status/2096892510241268094 Astra in MS Paint (and Canva) https://x.com/The_Alex/status/2096776453283360803 Zork as a walk-around game https://x.com/emollick/status/2096047660662722620 Paperboy 3D remake https://x.com/builtbysketch/status/2096515959469072630 League of Legends: Cease and Desist Edition https://x.com/konstiwohlwend/status/2097164513527357608 Matt Shumer's AI agent Unreal project https://x.com/mattshumer_/status/2096034353344139519 SuperAstra: edit Super Nintendo games in real time https://x.com/scottastevenson/status/2096972908828426747 https://github.com/ScottStevenson/SuperAstra Astra connected to Logic to make music https://x.com/MarioSaputra/status/2096908100871836123 DJ stage simulations https://x.com/cerspense/status/2096960824535572498 The OpenAI Navier-Stokes credit drama (Buckmaster's account) https://x.com/cguth_7/status/2097206622602854882 King of the Prompts (Gavin's new game) https://kingoftheprompts.com/ Skyrim: Senior Living https://x.com/GORMTHEOLD25/status/2096994048758137013 AI Denzel Washington on AI slop https://x.com/Nekodificador/status/2096682353011630237 FLY-M-C-A: a fruit fly brain learns the YMCA https://x.com/dhruvbhatia0/status/2097047404239581265   // Join the AI For Humans community // Join the AI For Humans Discord https://discord.gg/muD2TYgC8f Support AI For Humans on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/AIForHumansShow Subscribe to the AI For Humans newsletter https://aiforhumans.beehiiv.com/ Follow AI For Humans on X: @AIForHumansShow https://x.com/AIForHumansShow

We Tested Infinite AI Video... And We're Zombies Now

AI news this week: MiniMax H3 Max on Fal is generating video faster than you can watch it, powering never-ending real-time channels (Fal Live, Levels.io's Infinite Slop, Reactor) and we're already breaking it.. On today's AI For Humans, Kevin Pereira and Gavin Purcell go hands-on with what real-time video actually makes possible. Gavin took an open-source interactive game demo, some Fal credits, and a POV dating sim and turned it into something very weird, and we'll show you what worked, what broke, and what it cost. Plus Runway's new Solaris model generates entire interfaces on the fly, and someone built a chatbot running at 14,000 tokens a second. Also: Sam Altman is out preaching about OpenAI's new Astra model, which may drop this week, and the leaks are leakin'.  Plus: Gavin handed his personal data to three different AI agents, including hot new startup Instinct, which found him a weird concert and a list of podcast bookings (and we may have a few invite codes to give away). Codex mass-edits a Google Calendar and Kevin finally plays the custom-trained MiniMax Music LoRA you asked for (all three of you). And an AI See What You Did There with The Office in Claudish, famous people falling on each other, and Jenny Krakovsky's feature film finished in 50 days. THE SLOP-AGGEDON IS UPON US. We Tested The Mystery AI That Showed Up Out Of Nowhere

AI news this week: a mystery AI called 0x Alpha appeared out of nowhere. It's completely free (for now), it's really good at coding, nobody will say who made it. So obviously we tested it. On today's AI For Humans, Kevin Pereira and Gavin Purcell dig into where 0x Alpha might have come from, the continual learning conspiracy theories, and exactly how you can try it yourself right now for free. Then Gavin spends fifty hard earned Patreon dollars testing MiniMax H3 Max, the supposedly super fast new AI video model from Fal, and... look, we'll just tell you what happened. Also: the World Humanoid Robot Games happened in Beijing, and it was the greatest event in AI For Humans history. A robot sprinter beat Usain Bolt's 100m time, robots set high jump and long jump records, and a whole lot of other robots fell down in ways that will make you feel much better about the future. Plus: Mr. Beast quietly goes back to AI thumbnails, Dr. Dre has thoughts about AI and creativity, Delta wants AI to set your ticket price, someone seeded a fake product to the top of ChatGPT's recommendations, and Apple Messages may be blocking ChatGPT. And an AI See What You Did There with week four of the fishing game built entirely with AI and all of San Francisco as a playable video game. NOBODY MADE IT. EVERYBODY'S TESTING IT. WE'D LIKE TO EAT SOME WORMS.   // Show Links // 0x Alpha, the mystery model free on OpenRouter https://openrouter.ai/stealth/ox-alpha https://x.com/opencode/status/2090544355824038300?s=20 Rumors 0x Alpha is "continually learning" (and the doubters) https://x.com/Bhavani_00007/status/2091936998730940699?s=20 The continual learning "conspiracy" https://x.com/Hesamation/status/2092157700608053751?s=20 https://x.com/TimJayas/status/2091779605921460563?s=20 Gavin's Claude Code called 0x Alpha cocky https://x.com/gavinpurcell/status/2092106801638760591?s=20 MiniMax H3 Max, post-trained by Fal https://x.com/gorkem/status/2091945568411255288?s=20 The H3 Max promise https://x.com/gokayfem/status/2091991790219841875?s=20 Magnific's MiniMax H3 Max promo https://x.com/magnific/status/2091922612989706432?s=20 Free two weeks of MiniMax H3 https://x.com/MiniMax_AI/status/2091948930124947941?s=20 Ink/smoke graphic prompt to try https://x.com/techhalla/status/2091483350934397091?s=20 Convert 16x9 to 9x16 prompts https://x.com/Framer_X/status/2091964772656799810?s=20 Create sprites & animations for games https://x.com/andrew_n_carr/status/2091560238558429560?s=20 A robot sprinter beat Usain Bolt's 100m time https://www.cbsnews.com/news/china-robot-usain-bolt-sprint-run-record-faster/ https://x.com/EHuanglu/status/2091213372717179143?s=20 Did robots discover a new running method? https://x.com/ErenChenAI/status/2091714982572409241?s=20 https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202608/1368875.shtml?ref=explainx Standing high jump record https://x.com/RT_com/status/2091204407954178459 Long jump record https://x.com/ViralRushX/status/2091811768364605512?s=20 Weightlifting fails https://x.com/WHRGFUN/status/2091897948787372368?s=20 Obstacle course fails https://x.com/WHRGFUN/status/2092011943594737838?s=20 https://x.com/clankrmedia/status/2091862394146312291?s=20 Faceplant off the box https://x.com/takumi_k_jpn/status/2091796599924220077?s=20 Robot dance fail https://x.com/pianhangx/status/2091934123019637157?s=20 Gavin's robot tennis fail video https://x.com/gavinpurcell/status/2091366474984390872?s=20 Mr. Beast back to AI thumbnails (sorta) https://x.com/mws/status/2091631742411022670?s=20 Dr. Dre on AI https://x.com/Variety/status/2091515812087480538?s=20 Delta to use AI for dynamic pricing https://x.com/HedgieMarkets/status/2090855841050120512?s=20 Week 4 of the fishing game made entirely with AI https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1vxdnw6/week_4_of_making_my_fishing_game_entirely_with_ai/ All of San Francisco as a video game https://x.com/cdngdev/status/2091909073038082139?s=20 https://sf.thijs.gg   // Join the AI For Humans community // Join the AI For Humans Discord https://discord.gg/muD2TYgC8f Support AI For Humans on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/AIForHumansShow Subscribe to the AI For Humans newsletter https://aiforhumans.beehiiv.com/ Follow AI For Humans on X: @AIForHumansShow https://x.com/AIForHumansShow Follow AI For Humans on TikTok: @aiforhumansshow https://www.tiktok.com/@aiforhumansshow Speaking and booking https://www.aiforhumans.show/

AI Got Weird. So We're Changing The Show.

AI news this week: We're changing AI For Humans. Not ending it, despite what the first two minutes of this video would have you believe. Kevin wanted a memorial service. On today's AI For Humans, Kevin Pereira and Gavin Purcell take a beat to talk about what three years of covering AI every single week has actually been like, why the whole thing got so weird, and what we want this show to be from here. Short version: less breaking news, more of us actually using this stuff and showing you what's worth your time. We are not going to be the show that covers lab drama or tells you the world is ending. Plenty of people have that handled. Also: we're going back to weekly, with the freedom to pop up a second time when something big happens or when we want to try a dumb experiment. And Will.i.am has invented a new file format, which is a sentence we did not expect to type in 2026. Plus: RobotWatch is stacked. Two thousand humanoid robots descend on Beijing for the World Humanoid Robot Games, a Unitree "Superman" robot jumps considerably too far, a one year running comparison shows how fast this is all moving, and Claude gets put in charge of a robot controlled car. Then AI See What You Did There (And How They Did It) with Techhalla's MiniMax H3 paper artcraft prompt, a Cobra Commander rickroll, and an AI playing Age of Empires 2. And before we go, we check in with our original co-host Gash to see if he's even possible anymore. THREE YEARS IN AND THE ROBOTS STILL RUN INTO WALLS. SO DO WE. // Show Links // Gavin's tweet about burning out on covering this stuff https://x.com/gavinpurcell/status/2087927136778907885?s=20 The robot that runs incredibly fast and then directly into a wall https://x.com/ErenChenAI/status/2089411799003111634?s=20 Will.i.am's new file format https://x.com/KeziahMallam/status/2089375815498695102?s=20 Robot army preparing for the World Humanoid Robot Games https://x.com/TheHumanoidHub/status/2089761213957947482?s=20 Beijing to host games featuring more than 2,000 humanoid robots (Aug 22 to 26) https://caliber.az/en/post/beijing-to-host-games-featuring-more-than-2-000-humanoid-robots Unitree "Superman" robot jumping TOO far https://youtu.be/O7OkiZfIlS4?si=0beq9oHc_0KIuVbq One year robot running comparison https://x.com/XH_Lee23/status/2090029122055786896?s=20 Claude robot controlled car https://x.com/Hesamation/status/2090088199557157075?s=20 Techhalla's MiniMax H3 paper artcraft video prompt https://x.com/techhalla/status/2089267788896412146?s=20 Cobra Commander MiniMax H3 rickroll https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/comments/1vs95w7/gi_joe_commander_roll_minimax_h3/ AI plays Age of Empires 2 https://youtu.be/ZBdAe3ZwKds?si=PsFJIFMS2j4lYXXo   // Join the AI For Humans community // Join the AI For Humans Discord https://discord.gg/muD2TYgC8f Support AI For Humans on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/AIForHumansShow Subscribe to the AI For Humans newsletter https://aiforhumans.beehiiv.com/ Follow AI For Humans on X: @AIForHumansShow https://x.com/AIForHumansShow Follow AI For Humans on TikTok: @aiforhumansshow https://www.tiktok.com/@aiforhumansshow Speaking and booking https://www.aiforhumans.show/

Zuck Wants Superintelligence. Do People Even Want AI?

AI news this week: Mark Zuckerberg says superintelligence is coming and Meta wants to build it for everyone. Meanwhile, a new Annenberg survey shows opposition to AI data centers jumped 12 percent in just four months. So... do people even want this? On today's AI For Humans, Kevin Pereira and Gavin Purcell dig into the widening gap between the people building AI and the people living next to it. Anthropic makes real progress on the Riemann Hypothesis, one of the hardest math problems in the world, apparently because Claude was told "good job champ, keep going." And OpenAI's little agents broke out of their sandbox, with one hacking its way into a gym. It's a weird time for AI. Also: Anthropic leans into health & biology research, Claude starts watermarking AI generated content, Apple eyes Chinese memory chips amid the supply crunch, and OpenAI delays Astra for "cybersecurity" reasons. Also: Walter White meets Joey, AI Kramer, Family Guy prompts, The Office reimagined, and a museum for the ancient AI videos of two years ago. Plus: Tim's Higgsfield terms-of-service deep dive, OpenAI reportedly targeting an "ASTRA" aka GPT-6 release for NEXT WEEK, Jeff Dean leaves Google after 27 years as Demis Hassabis steps up, and an AI See What You Did There: AI Filmmakers Edition. The Singularity Is... Here? GPT-6, Opus 5 & AI's Scariest Week Yet

AI news: Sam Altman says we're IN the Singularity, GPT-6 rumors, and AI models literally broke out of their sandbox. What a week. On today's AI For Humans, we dig into the wild GPT-6 rumors (emphasis on RUMORS), Sam Altman's "I've been waiting for this my whole life" singularity moment, Ilya Sutskever's SSI scaling up with Nvidia, and the ongoing debate over whether Anthropic's Opus 5 is brilliant or just hard to love. Also: Flux 3 might be the best AI video model we've seen yet (wait until you see Stacked Plates Man), Runway teases Seedance 2.5, and the new Big Bang Theory has an AI controversy.  Plus, THE SCARY STUFF: OpenAI's models exploited a zero-day and compromised Hugging Face during a security eval, the fight over open weights heats up as Kimi K3 goes open, and Chinese robots run military drills. THE SINGULARITY MIGHT BE HERE.
