    Letting Go Technique

With the loving support and guidance of many mentors, others on a journey of growth and healing, and by using the 'Letting Go' technique of Dr. David Hawkins, I'm learning that I can experience new ways of being at ease in my own body. I'm learning that I can be with my feelings without running, numbing, shaming, blaming, performing, shopping, endless scrolling or avoiding. When we learn to 'let go' we can experience a sudden release of an inner pressure that may feel like the dropping of a weight. Letting go is accompanied by a sudden feeling of relief and lightness. This may bring on increased happiness, feeling free, or being more at ease in your own body. Letting go is a natural mechanism of our mind. When we use this technique to be with our feelings we build more love, empathy, and compassion for ourselves and for the world around us. When we don't let go of feelings, but instead try to run, numb, or think our way around our feelings we trap the energy of our feelings inside of us. It is the accumulated pressure of feelings that causes thoughts. One feeling can create literally 1000s of thoughts over a period of time. This trapped energy of our feelings is what creates dis-ease in our bodies. When letting go it is important to ignore all thoughts. Focus on the feeling itself, not on the thoughts. Thoughts in and of themselves are painless, but not the feelings that underlie them. The purpose of this meditation is to assist you in becoming aware of a feeling, to help you stay with the feeling, to focus on letting out the energy behind the feeling, and to guide you through the resistance that keeps feelings going. It's when we resist fully feeling our feelings that they persist.

    Forgiveness

I've been struggling this week to move past a certain situation. I've used my voice, shared my feelings and my truth and guess what? Nothing changed. I still don't feel heard and all weekend I've been carrying anger around inside of me. Are you anything like me? Do you have times where you hold onto anger, times where you let other people, situations or circumstances steal your peace and your joy? As a young boy I learned that forgiveness was about turning the other cheek, being the bigger person and letting things go... but there is still a little boy inside of me that wants to scream "but that's NO FAIR" As I recover, heal and grow I'm working to learn that forgiveness is a gift from God and it's a gift that brings peace and freedom. Forgiveness doesn't make the other person right, it doesn't make what I deem "unfair" go away and it doesn't erase the pain or trauma. It doesn't change the things on an earthly or material level. Forgiveness provides freedom, peace and release on a much more important level. It provides freedom on a spiritual level. During my morning reading today the topic of forgiveness "magically" came up... the words spoke truth into me. I adapted those words and turned them into this meditation to help me learn to forgive. My hope is that these words may also speak to you and help you learn to forgive and allow more love into your life. You are loved.
