    Episode 6: Reusable Recipes (Functions)

Episode 6: Reusable Recipes (Functions) In this episode of PYTHON_FROM_SCRATCH, we learn the golden rule of coding: Don't Repeat Yourself! Just like you wouldn't rebuild a toaster from scratch every morning, you shouldn't rewrite code every time you need to do a task. We cover how to build reusable mini-machines using Functions, how to pass "ingredients" into them, and the crucial step of actually turning them on. 0:00 - The Toaster Analogy (Why we need Functions) 0:45 - Welcome & AI Voice Disclosure 1:30 - Defining a Function (The 'def' keyword) 3:00 - Naming Your Recipe and Adding Ingredients 4:15 - Calling the Function (Pressing the button) 5:30 - 10-Second Commuter Challenge 6:15 - Next Up: Return vs Print (Episode 7) COMMUTER CHALLENGE: If you define a recipe like this: def show_total(): print(100) But you never write show_total() later in your script, what actually appears on your screen? Episode 5: Dictionaries (Key-Value Pairs)

Episode 5: Dictionaries (Key-Value Pairs) In this episode of PYTHON_FROM_SCRATCH, we solve the problem of organizing data. Lists are great for simple rows of items, but when you need clear tags (like a phone contact list), you need a Dictionary. We explore how to build Key-Value pairs, use curly braces, and easily look up or update specific pieces of information without counting index numbers. 0:00 - The Phone Contacts Analogy 0:45 - Welcome & AI Voice Disclosure 1:30 - Why We Need Dictionaries 2:20 - Building Key-Value Pairs (Curly Braces) 3:45 - Looking Up and Modifying Data 5:10 - 10-Second Commuter Challenge 6:00 - Next Up: Reusable Recipes / Functions (Episode 6) COMMUTER CHALLENGE: If you have a dictionary: profile = {'city': 'Bristol', 'tier': 'Gold'} What happens inside the dictionary if you write: profile['tier'] = 'Platinum'? Episode 4: Lists, Zero-Indexing, and Loops

Episode 4: Lists, Zero-Indexing, and Loops In this episode of PYTHON_FROM_SCRATCH, we stop creating separate variable boxes for every item and learn how to bundle data together using Lists. We explore the infamous "zero-indexing" rule (why programmers count from zero), and how to use For Loops to automatically repeat tasks without copying and pasting code. 0:00 - The Egg Carton Analogy (Why we use Lists) 0:45 - Welcome & AI Voice Disclosure 1:35 - Building a List (Square Brackets) 2:20 - The Zero-Indexing Trick 4:00 - Automating Tasks with For Loops 5:30 - 10-Second Commuter Challenge 6:15 - Next Up: Dictionaries (Episode 5) COMMUTER CHALLENGE: If names = ['Sam', 'Alex', 'Jordan'], what name do you get when you ask Python for names[1]? Drop your answer in the comments below! --- ⚖️ DISCLOSURES & NOTICES: • Voice & Production: This audio/video production utilizes synthetically generated AI voices alongside original instructional design. • Commercial Rights: Audio and synthetic voice tracks are licensed for distribution and monetization. #Python #LearnPython #Programming #PythonFromScratch #ForLoops #CodingForBeginners

Episode 3 - Making Decisions (If, Elif, Else)

Episode 3: Making Decisions (If, Elif, Else) In this episode of PYTHON_FROM_SCRATCH, we give Python a fork in the road using if, elif, and else statements. We explore the real-world coat-rack analogy, how indentation works, and the critical difference between assigning a value (=) and checking equality (==). 0:00 - The Coat Rack Analogy 0:45 - Welcome & AI Voice Disclosure 1:30 - How If, Elif, and Else Work 3:10 - The Four-Space Indentation Rule 4:20 - Assignment (=) vs Equality (==) 5:45 - 10-Second Commuter Challenge 6:45 - Next Up: Lists and Loops (Episode 4) COMMUTER CHALLENGE: If battery = 15, and your code checks: if battery > 20: print("Good") else: print("Charge now") What appears on screen? --- ⚖️ DISCLOSURES & NOTICES: Voice & Production: This audio/video production utilizes synthetically generated AI voices alongside original instructional design. Commercial Rights: Audio and synthetic voice tracks are licensed for distribution and monetization. #Python #LearnPython #Programming #PythonFromScratch

Episode 2: Text, Numbers, and Data Types

Welcome to Episode 2! Now that you know how to create variables and label your boxes, it's time to talk about what goes INSIDE those boxes. Computers are picky about the difference between words and numbers. If you treat text like a number, the computer gets confused! In this episode, we break down the three fundamental "Data Types" in plain English: **Strings (Text):** Why you MUST use quotation marks. **Integers:** Clean, whole numbers (no decimal). **Floats:** Numbers with a decimal point (why they "float"). We also look at the most powerful command for troubleshooting: the type() function. This is how you ask Python, "Hey, what kind of data is in this box?" This is the key to preventing silly errors as your code gets more advanced! *** QUICK CHEAT SHEET (To look at while you listen): # Creating different types of data: first_name = "Sarah" # This is a String (Text) test_score = 98 # This is an Integer (Whole Number) current_temp = 18.5 # This is a Float (Decimal Number) # How to check the type of any variable: print(type(first_name)) # Python says: 'str' (String) print(type(test_score)) # Python says: 'int' (Integer) print(type(current_temp)) # Python says: 'float' (Float)

Episode 1: How Python Thinks & Variables

Welcome to Episode 1! In this episode, we start from absolute zero and look at how Python actually reads your instructions (like a checklist from top to bottom) and how it remembers information using "Variables". Instead of scary maths jargon, we break variables down using everyday analogies like labelled plastic storage boxes and spreadsheet cells. What you’ll learn in this episode: • Why computers have zero common sense (and why step-by-step order matters) • What a "Variable" actually is (a storage box with a name tag) • Why the equals sign (=) in Python is an action instruction, not a maths symbol • How to update what is inside a box • How to use the print() instruction to display what is inside a box on your screen --- QUICK CODE CHEAT SHEET (To look at while you listen): 1. Put the number 30 inside a box called class_size: class_size = 30 2. Update that same box with a new number (throws away the 30): class_size = 31 3. Display what is inside the box on your screen: print(class_size)
