    The Final Ghouls are back and and trying to figure out if we should go to the light or run from it with a trip to the 1980s for the iconic Poltergeist! Holly, Jeremy and L jump into Tobe Hooper's story of a family in a haunted house and explore its many charms. Get Ready For: The "Tobe Hooper or Steven Spielberg?" debate, our thoughts on haunted house films, Holly's uniquely traumatizing first experience watching the film, how this film contributed to Jeremy's fear of clowns, our thoughts on the family at the core of the story, L questioning Steve and Diane's parenting skills, differing opinions on Zelda Rubenstein's Tangina, how effective the horror elements are, and an exploration of the movie's look at 1980s greed and the dark side of Americana.     Scream 4 (2011)

    The Final Ghouls are back and returning to Woodsboro (technically for the first time on this podcast) as we dive into Scream 4!     The Final Ghouls are back as we go back to 1960 and step into the shower for Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho!  Holly, Jeremy and L dive deep into the film's undeniable but complicated legacy, its big twists and shocking moments. Get Ready For: Discussion of L's introduction to Hitchcock through an unexpected literary source and Holly's history with the director from a young age, the labored quest to get the film on the big screen, what we think of the film's first-act plot twist, how effective the famous shower sequence to us, Anthony Perkins and Vivian Leigh' performances, why Jeremy thinks Lila and Sam's boring protagonist syndrome is intentional, Marion Crane's ineptness at getting away with crime, Holly's desire to ship Norman and Marion, our thoughts on Hitchcock's direction, and whether the film deserves the blame for inspiring a number of harmful stereotypes of trans characters in its wake. Holly, Jeremy and L go in deep on the infamous "worst film ever made," learn about Ed Wood, and try to find something good -- anything at all -- to say about this one.     The Final Ghouls are back after a LONG hibernation, and we're exploring Halloween in... May? with Trick r' Treat! (Blame Jeremy for falling off on the editing. Life and work got in the way.) Holly, Jeremy and L dive into the seasonal horror anthology to explore which segments we like best, learn about the problems around the film's release, and give a lot of praise to the characters and content. Get Ready For: Discussion of our history with the Halloween season and how the film navigates the holiday, Sam Hain as the mascot of the franchise, Holly's haunted house history, L's lack of connection to Halloween, Jeremy's Letterboxd viewing challenge history, issues with the amount of ableist slurs in the kids' segment, Halloween orgy etiquette, and what we would like to see in the long-anticipated sequel.
