    Lessons to Advance Your Career - Diana White & Robert Hossary

    In this first episode of 'Lessons Learned to Advance Your Career,' host Siebe Vanderzee introduces a new segment of the global podcast '10 Lessons Learned.' Siebe, a corporate executive recruiter with over 25 years of experience, is joined by co-hosts Diana White, Chief of Staff at the Arizona Technology Council, and Robert Hossary, an executive at Laser Craft Australia. Together, they explore critical lessons for career advancement drawn from their extensive professional backgrounds. Topics include the importance of networking, maintaining respect, updating your resume, understanding your company's mission, and finding a sense of purpose in your work. They also discuss the impact of AI on recruitment and job search processes, offering valuable insights for both job seekers and employers.   About Our Hosts   Diana White has over 30 years in sales and retail experience, leading stores with revenues of over 10 million and a staff of 200. Consumer psychology, marketing, operations, and leadership are just a few of her skillsets. Seeing a need for startup and operations assistance within the local business community, Diana established D.E.W. Business Solutions, LLC, to provide consulting to small businesses. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Small Business Administration from Northern Arizona University, holds a green belt in Lean Six Sigma, and is a certified Agile Scrum Master. She is committed to helping businesses and non-profits as well as the community at large.   Siebe Van Der Zee is President of Vanderzee & Associates, Executive Search & Coaching. He has served as an international management consultant for over 25 years. For 28 years, Siebe has served as Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Arizona. He holds a Master's Degree in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management and he is a current member of the International Leadership Council at GPEC (Greater Phoenix Economic Council).   Robert Hossary has been involved in the not for profit/charity sector for the past 12 years. Robert also has an excellent knowledge in international business. Since 2011 - 2018, Robert was the General Manager for the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AmCham) and helped advise many Australian and US companies about their international expansion requirements. Prior to that, Robert was Regional Vice President for the Americas for a technology manufacturer. He has also worked in Taiwan with responsibility for Asia Pacific and the Middle East.     Ryan Jenkins - Discipline Equals Freedom

    About Ryan Jenkins Mr. Kevin “Ryan” Jenkins has more than two decades of field experience in logistics, base life support, training, maintenance, and facilities management supporting United States and Allied Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine services in the most remote and austere locations in the world. Specific expertise in Portfolio Management, Federal Contracts, Finance and Business Development. Mr. Jenkins contracting career began with Engility (now Sincerus) supporting Vectrus (now V2X) in the Kuwait Base Operations Service Support Security (KBOSSS) contract. From 2011 – 2015, he managed all U.S. Army Training Support in Southwest Asia comprising range maintenance and logistics support across 23 countries and overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of one of the largest U.S. Army training areas. In 2016, Mr. Jenkins was sent to Afghanistan as the Program Manager providing oversight management of the Afghan Air Force (AAF) in the functional areas of Finance/Budget, Operations, Engineering Projects/Facilities Maintenance, IT infrastructure, Human Resources, Intelligence, Logistics and Maintenance. Later that year, Mr. Jenkins was asked to become the Senior Finance Advisor to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) advising the senior executives on treasury oversight, budget formulation and execution of the $5.5B budget. In 2017, Mr. Jenkins joined Constellis (Centerra group) as the Program Manager of the Bahrain Base Operations Support contract (BBOS) at the US Naval Base that hosts the 5th Naval Fleet and 3 other military sites. He executed close out operations of this $20M annual revenue contract with 550 employees. In 2020, Mr. Jenkins became Amentum’s Senior Business Manager over one of the largest contracts in Afghanistan consisting of 1100 employees and $118M in annual revenue. The contract provided theater-wide support of all US maintenance, transportation, and property management. He led the Business Management Directorate with five reporting sections: Financial Planning & Analysis, Payroll/Cash management, Contracts, Travel and IT. Notably this contract was tasked with the full retrograde mission of all US vehicles, equipment and property from Afghanistan. Upon leaving Afghanistan he has held SVP and Director level postions in DoD Business Development and Capture Management in firms such as Palladium International, Taylors International Services and J&J Worldwide Services. Currently serving as a US Army Reservist, Lieutenant Colonel Jenkins is the 403rd Civil Affairs Battalion Commander. He has also had previous roles as: Aviation Officer (UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter pilot), Logistics Officer, Strategic Plans Officer, Information Operations Officer, and Trade & Commerce Officer.     Jacob Butler - Don't wait for Change. rebroadcast

    About Jacob Butler Jacob Butler is a member of the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community and was elected to the SRPMIC Tribal Council in 2022. He is Onk Akimel O’Odham and has lived within his community his entire life. Councilman Butler is the District A Representative. Councilmember Butler has worked for his community for the past 20 years. He previously worked as the Cultural Resource Specialist and was the primary contact for the Section 106 government to government Consultation for the tribe and has worked with many indigenous communities across the country during his time as the Community Garden Coordinator. Councilman Butler is a strong advocate of supporting and maintaining ancestral lands of the Onk Akimel O’Odham and strongly supports representation of indigenous people. Councilmember Butler is currently serving as Chair of the Non-profit Organization Native Seed Search and is a board member of the Friends of Pueblo Grande Auxiliary. Councilman Butler has also been appointed to serve on Salt River Fields Board and Salt River DEVCO boards. Councilmember Butler is also an avid artist. He practices the O’odham tradition of shell-etching and has participated in a number of events and galleries around the world, including (but not limited to): Prehistoric Collectors Gallery of the Southwest Potters, SRPMIC Huhugam Ki Museum, Arizona Heard Museum, Smithsonian Institute National Museum of American Indian video, wall art panel for the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, wall art panel at the Odysea Aquarium, Gateway Airport traditional tools and shell, Great Wolf Lodge, Hayden House Rehabilitation Project, Pueblo Grand Museum, Huhugam Heritage Center. In 2018, Councilman Butler presented Colorado Rockies player, Ian Desmond with his personal fielding glove that was designed to represent the culture of the Akimel O’odham as a way to maintain and honor the unique connection and relationship the Colorado Rockies have established with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
