    Navigating the Numbers

For any business, there are three core financial statements – the income or P&L statement, the balance sheet, and the cash flow statement. While these statements can show investors and the board how the business is doing, they can do more than just keep score on your business – they are one of the best tools you have to run it, especially in times of crisis.

In this episode, a16z partner Jon Lai joins host Lauren Murrow to talk about how game developers are grappling with skyrocketing numbers, why this may be an inflection point for VR, the surprising transition of professional sports into esports, and why live-streaming is having its moment.

Worth every minute

I have been listening to this podcast for 3 months now and loving it. The topics are great and guest speakers are no nonsense, great insights and to a large extent inspiring. No long winded start or adverts or aimless blubbering.

Insights that are evergreen and always excellent

I've listened to many tech commentary shows and this and O'Reilly's podcasts are the best for getting insights into technology and the business of technology. Given this is run by a venture capital firm this skews towards the business side and does it really well. Often they have people they have invested in on the show. I am always amazed at how candid they are. It's a real credit to them that they encourage and get people they've invested in (and in many cases may be the principal investor) to be so open. It's great for the listener too as it makes for interesting conversations. This is rarely "news" so even episodes from well over a year ago are worthwhile listening to if they are on a topic you're interested in.
