All the Ways I’ve Failed
In primary school, Bec Marshallsay predicted that she was going to be a zoologist, an Olympic swimmer, a part-time swim instructor, author of a best-selling thriller 'Deadly Ballet', a movie star, and an 'ocean biographer' (whatever that may entail). Her dreams were partially realised - she has worked as a part-time swim instructor. Released every Thursday as a 10-part series, Bec talks to guests about their experiences of, and relationship with, failure. What do a World Record holder, a philosopher, a social activist and a bunch of authors all have in common? They've all failed - a lot. Whilst it holds a special place in its heart for writers and creatives, All the Ways I've Failed is for anyone who creates, strives and fails along the way.

Inspiring conversations

I’ve loved listening to intimate conversations with authors I admire- Deborah Frenkel and Poppy Gee. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Poppy in real life, but not Deborah, so this was a treat. I loved Poppy’s comment that all books, including picture books, have a crime at the centre. Intriguing, and really got me thinking . . .
Some interesting discussion but not worth the listen

I love listening to the perspective of a diverse bunch of people, mainly for self help. But the content is ridiculously shallow (failed at assembling IKEA side tables, really?) with the biggest issue seemingly the host who besides being grating (sorry) is unable to probe and unpack the guests failures - this would at least help bring out some interesting dialogue.
Feels like a conversation with mates

Every minute I’ve listened to so far feels like a big audio hug. Thank you for sharing your fails!
Just what the world needs right now.

I think I said “Oh, my heart!” about 20 times during episode one. Love this concept and the warmth of the host. A great listen.
